A Comprehensive, Well-presented Guide to a Whole-foods, Plant-based Lifestyle
I received this book yesterday, started reading it immediately, and am thoroughly enjoying it. It’s full of facts which support a whole-foods-plant-based (WFPB) way of eating, and it’s also a visual treat; the recipe photographs, illustrations, and colour-coded pages make the reading easy and enjoyable. It’s beautifully presented.There is a wealth of information here, distilled from a thorough review of the latest research and appraised from a doctor’s clinical perspective.Dr Newman sets out the arguments for a WFPB diet, a roadmap to easily transition to this lifestyle, and provides delicious recipes to get you started. However, even if you are already eating this way, there’s so much information here, I guarantee you’ll learn a great deal.I have been plant-based for a while now (and feel great for it), however from time to time I fall off the ‘whole foods’ wagon. Let’s face it, this is a bumper time to be plant-based, with new and tasty vegan foods being introduced almost daily. Sadly, most of them are so highly processed, they’re simply vegan junk food.So this book is a present to myself to get back on track again. However, as we all have favourite books we like to gift to our family and friends, I would say I’ll definitely be purchasing this book again as, in my view, this is the PERFECT book to give to someone who’s considering taking more control of their health by switching to a WFPB diet. The tone, content and appearance will make it more appealing than many of the popular plant-based starter books, most of which are written by North American authors. It’s great that we now have our own champion of lifestyle medicine here in the U.K.Great job!

Best book for your health and very easy to use!!
Highly recommend this Fantastic book, so easy to become healthy and safe the planet.. ordered more books.... the best present for people you care about and helps the planet too especially fighting the carnivorous = coronavirus ( simply rearrange the letters ). My mother is a patient of Dr Newman. Following the plant based lifestyle she went from being obese with high blood pressure and being pre diabetic to being slim and trim and no longer needing her long term medication. She is almost 87 and started her journey only a few years ago!We cannot thank Dr. Newman enough!!

Take control of your health with The Plant Power Doctor
How I wish I had read this book when I was younger! It’s never too late though . I’m in my mid 50’s now and although have been vegan for three years (which has already improved my health dramatically) I now want to make changes to my diet and feel the full benefits of eating plant based. This book explains everything in such an easy to read way. It has opened my eyes to a better way to fuel my body and take responsibility for my own health. How refreshing to find a GP that can see beyond the drugs and pills and looks at ways in which we can all help ourselves to prevent and even cure illness , most of which have been caused by our poor western diet. It is easy to follow the crowd ,get led by advertisements and grow up believing we need certain foods for our health. This book smashes through all that and it all makes perfect sense. Offers practical easy to understand guidance on how to change the way you shop, what foods to keep in the cupboards and some fabulous easy to follow recipes to set you off. We all need to enjoy cooking again and eating in a way that our bodies will thank us. I can thoroughly recommend this book especially at a time when becoming healthy has never been so important!

A wonderful, eloquent and personal guide to living better
In an era where people are considering how best to live, Dr Gemma Newman provides a holistic, realistic and evidence-based guide for all. Her book is an excellent resource for people in the quest of living better and staying well. It is refreshing to find that Gemma supports all her suggestions with scientific evidence and presents it in a palatable and thoughtful manner. If you read, reflect and want to better yourself in 2021 then 'The Plant Power Doctor' is the one book you should read this year. (Dr Kaiser Munir - NHS Full-time GP, Sports Medic, Triathlete).

Delicious, easy & healthy recipes
Totally excellent book, I’ve read a lot of books on whole food plant based eating, this is so easy to understand and written in a concise and user friendly way (without being interrupted by lots of footnotes - the evidence is there but all at the back for you to read if you wish)I’ve cooked two recipes so far, the cooked breakfast and the mushroom casserole (pictured) both were super tasty & quick & easyVery impressed, highly recommend.
