So fun and loud
Takes a minute to learn without drooling all over yourself. Once you get it you might drive every one nuts because it's so much fun for those who can't whistle

Very very well made. Actually surprisingly well made.
Absolutely love this whistle. I will warn you if you have never played a wind instrument give yourself some time to get used to the whistle. It is not as simple as blowing into it. There are some great YouTube videos on this whistle and it really gives you some great advice, as well as letting you know what you're committing to. My dogs respond better to this whistle (a Newfoundland and a Flat Coated Retriever), then any other dog whistle I have tried. My Newf likes to swim out into the lake, and she can hear this and returns to shore. The multiple pitches are easy to accomplish and get the exact message across (as a Shepherd's whistle is supposed to). The metal is heavy and does not bend. Again, very very well made.

mediocre construction
somewhat difficult to use, the taste is somewhat annoying. It can't be carried in contact with metallic things because it clangs a lot.

Great whistle. Horrible metal taste.
It took me a while to get the hang of using a shepherd's whistle. I taught myself using the plastic one sold here on Amazon. Once I felt I was proficient enough I wanted to treat myself to the metal one both because it was more visually pleasing and also because I'd heard the sound is better. The sound out of this thing IS beautiful and having taught myself on the plastic, this was easy to use. My first couple of days with it I was a very happy camper and if I'd just written my review then, It would have gotten 4 or 5 stars. Alas, after a couple of days, the taste this thing had was unbearable for me. Truly unbearable. I tried rinsing it daily and that made a little difference, but really only a little. Ultimately I had to stop using it because the lingering taste was just horrid. Next I treated myself to a high end brass version but I quickly found that to have an unpleasant (though not quite as bad as this one) taste as well. I abandoned that for a corian version. No taste whatsoever but really not as nice a piece as the metal ones. The sound is fine. I used to be silversmith and still have the whole setup in my house. I am thinking of trying to make my own out of silver. Since I wear this thing all day every day it would be nice to have one that actually looks like a nice piece of jewelry, no? So I have to wonder whether there is some chemical in my saliva that just reacts badly to these metals. Lots of people seem to love this whistle and seemingly are not bothered by the taste. I love the acme whistle company and own other whistles from their collection and have not had the taste problem. They produce such high quality stuff but this one just didn't cut it for me. I echo the sentiments of some of the other reviewers..... definitely practice and get the hang of this before you start training your dog with it. Don't let the little fur beast hear you whistle until you are proficient. BOTTOM LINE: I want to love the whistle, the sound is great. But for me, I couldn't get past the rancid metal taste. For some folks this wont be a problem, in which case this would be a 5 star item.

Does the job!
Great little whistle. I learned on this before buying a Logan Ventura Brass whistle (10x the cost) performance is basically similar, the brass is better for sure and more durable but like if you need something that is going to absolutely get the job done then this is for sure your winner. You literally CAN NOT go wrong here. Also just know that learning to do this takes time, its not super easy to learn how to use. I spent many hours sounding like an idiot blowing into this thing until finally making a sound but can now whistle literally anything with it. Wish there were more resources on how to use these in general.

This is a music instrument, not a whistle! Hard.
At first I thought it was defective but I did get it to sound after a lot of trying. It’s difficult to do on demand. Even after you have figured it out, it takes a half dozen tries to do it. Also your breath condensates in it. Spit starts to rattle around in there making it even hard to use and sounding gross. It’s more like a little mouth flute than a “whistle”. I am a very non-musical person and learning to use this thing is probably on par with learning to play a musical instrument. I think it is probably fantastic for the right person, but for someone like me it’s a agonizing chore, and I probably will never be successful without lessons. If you aren’t patient and skilled with auditory learning, get yourself a normal whistle!

Why not coat it in nickel? It tarnished bad the second day around my neck....not this bad but bad
Hey I don't know if this is regular but mine tarnished right away. Wonder if anyone else has had this problem or if it's a one off. 🤔 Fun whistle once you get the hang of it but it needs adjusting to make it loud loud loud. But not too much or it doesn't work. 1 year later: i lost thst one, ordered anotber and it's fun.....and LOUD AF once you master it... mine i find the best way to have a consistent loud first whistle is to spit just prior to.puttung it in, and you'll be a pro.....swallowing doesn't work....I tried It's pretty easy to.coat it in nickel if you want, YouTube and it gets rid of the brass taste.... just make sure you have all your adjusting done to the loudest possible whistle that you can make out of it. I find when it's a non-even bent it's even louder
