I bought two USB hubs that appear to use the same hardware internally, this one with four ports and a similar one with eight that showed up as two four-port hubs of the same type. Both of them were unreliable, at least with some devices. With slower devices, every port worked fine. With faster ones, every port would fail to connect more often than not. I was using them on a Unix box, which means that it's less tolerant of devices that don't follow the USB specifications than Windows. I generally think this is a good thing, as it means I don't need a manufacturer's driver for proper USB devices. But it sometimes causes problems with devices that don't follow the spec. I believe that's the case here. If all you use are Windows boxes, they may be fine. But most of my computers use some variant of Unix, and USB hubs that fail this consistently are worse than useless, so they went back.

I honestly thought that this was going to be a great purchase. I intended on using it to connect some controllers to my laptop so that my friends and I can play games together. Unfortunately the plug only recognized one of the controllers at a time so I go online and read that when there are this many ports, an external power supply is needed to power all the ports. That makes sense. I plug in the power adapter into the USB hub and my computer instantly dies. I had no idea that it was the USB hub so I get my laptop running again and this time I plug it into a different USB port and plug the power adapter in once more and this time my computer smells like burnt electronics and I realize that I might have just fried my 1,400$ laptop. I am currently sending my laptop in for repairs and that is costing me 400$ and there is no guarantee that it will be fixed. If I was you, I'd spend 20$ more on a better USB hub over spending 400$ on computer repairs.

If I only use every other port, it will charge very, very slowly. More than that, it will not charge. If I wanted an adapter that allowed me to charge 4 items, I would have purchased one at a 4 port price. Though it is possible to charge 4 or fewer devices on this, albeit very slowly, I cannot recommend it. There's just nothing about it that lives up to what I thought I purchased.

You shoul dnote you need your own power supply if you plug in more than 2-3 items. After that it worked ok for about a year, but eventually just started cutting out. Its worth looking into something higher quality.

Pretty cheaply made. Doesn't work with raspberry pi. Spotty support on my computer. Haven't tested the power feature.

This product is overall great. I had a budget of 5 dollars and needed at least 3 more usb ports. I recommend this product to anyone who has a budget. This is built cheap. This works great for me but it is a little bit cheap. All and All I give it 3 stars because it works.

at least 2-3 ports don't work :/

It's a hub. Don't expect everything you plug into it to work as if it's directly connected to your PC.
