A nice tool - does what it's intended to do
Before buying this Tenoning Jig, I decided to read every review and comparison that I could to help make my decision. I've always done this by hand, but for some reason felt compelled to make the switch to a jig. Because of what I read, I simply want to write what was on my mind after receiving this tool.I read in many reviews that all the Tenoning Jigs on the market were made to such loose tolerances that you simply had no hope to buy a functioning jig. You could expect to buy a jig that was uneven on the bottom (causing the jig to rock), out of square, covered with grease, needing repairs, etc. I did notice that the Grizzly Jig had by far the most reviews, with by far the most positive ratings - and yet was the least expensive. I finally decided that if I was going to need to "adjust" my jig, then I might as well go with the one most people seemed to comment on, and the one with the most reasonable pricing.I ordered and received an excellent tenoning jig. I am a seasoned woodworker, have been buying and using woodworking tools both professionally and as a hobby since the 70's. Some I bought back then I still use today. Every tool I have purchased has required some initial set-up, some initial discovery, some tinkering to understand how it should work. Many reviewers seem to think that you should be able to take an item from a box - and then put it to use. I have never found that to be true, even with equipment that costs tens of thousands of dollars. So, when I received this jig, I took it completely apart, cleaned it (the protective grease isn't bad at all to get off), inspected it, sanded and filed it where I thought it could use some improvement, then put it back together. I squared the jig, adjusted it to my cabinet saw guides, squared it to my cabinet saw blade, set the safety stops - and then used the tool. It worked as it should have - it didn't rock, it sit's solidly on my saw, I couldn't have hoped for more. I have no idea if it would have worked right out of the box, because I would never attempt that with any tool I buy.Any woodworker who uses quality hand tools does the exact same thing with items they buy, whether it be a Lie Nielsen plane, a Veritas plane, a nice set of chisels, or whatever. You take a fine tool and prepare it for use - you flatten it, polish the blade, sharpen it to your liking, or do whatever else is required to bring it to the standards you want the tool to have. Then you use it.I read so many reviews where individuals didn't understand this - well, I simply felt compelled to write the long winded review I just wrote. I hope it ends up being helpful/useful to someone. I found this tool to be exactly what I had hoped for.

Good bang for the buck.
I have a job coming up that requires about 70 mortise and tenon joints. Previously I was chopping these joints by hand but I really don't have the time in this case. I bought the jig to rough the tenons, then on to finish up with hand tools. The first one I made fit perfectly. Take your time to deburr and degrease the jig, it really helps to make it work for you later. By taking the whole jig apart I found there were two screws to make the bar that runs in the slot fit perfect. A well thought out tool for the price, maybe not the same as the old DeWalt style but at 1/3 the price you can't go wrong. A couple of things I didn't like and will fix, the first are the handles, they are crudely made plastic with a seam in them, I will make wooden handles at some point. The inch scale was so soaked in oil that the glue dissolved and it came off. You don't need it anyway so I may just leave it off. I didn't notice it moving out of square when I changed dimensions but I would check it every time I did move it as to cut down on "sawdust parts" otherwise known as firewood. All in all it does the job without a lot of fuss.

It is as good as any at half the price
I reviewed all of the info for various tenoning jigs. My shop is full of Jet and Powermatic, so I was biased toward these brands. Nonetheless, I decided to save the $100 and try the Grizzly. Here is what I found. 1. The product was absolutely covered in grease. It took about 45 minutes to clean it off (a hassle, but a one time event). 2. The base appeared to not sit flat. Here is the reason - there is a nut on the bottom of the base that holds a metal mounting bar onto the top of the base. Simply take it apart (you should anyway to de-grease it) and then re-set the nut higher into the hole. The base was COMPLETELY flat after this adjustment. 3. The design was safe and quick to set up. 4. I cannot imagine needing anything more that what this tool offered, at half the price.

set up was quick first pass decent cut but not perfect little outta square
okay understand I am using it on a dewalt contractor saw.1) arrived quick a+ to ups and amazon, also undamaged2)it heavy cast iron packed in grease, thick grease so get a biodegradable cleaner and a ton of rags. take the whole thing apart to clean it , every last inch or you will deal with a mess later3) once clean assembly time, seemed straight forward, I must have lost a washer because one screw protruded from the bottom and hit my saw top. lesson leaned check check double check, never force.4)TIME TO PLAY---- OKAY SO I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF SETTING UP SHOP, my step daughter moved out and took her room before she moved back in. now you understand my frame of mind.set up was quick first pass decent cut but not perfect little outta square.reset recheck tweek this shim that and boom pass two better but not perfect5) yes here comes the morale to the story understand a contractor saw isn't perfect, it isn't a super precise machineI spent a few hours tweeking my dewalt, before trying this .so yeah the grizzly is good, on a great saw it will be great. for the price buy it you may still have to clean and square your cuts but its still worth it.on my dewalt I have learned to accept 80% perfect and since I am not doing production work its cool, I don't mind spending a little tweek timeBOTTOM LINE it is a great tool, but is limited by the machine you use
