Picking up a chohiahua puppy that is 1.7lbs. How accurate will this be? Every ounce counts for her :-) thanks in advance

I use this for my 18 pound Lowchen and it is very accurate. I have weighed him right before going to the vet and the weight was exact. I'm very pleased with this scale.

Is this truly made by W.C. Redmon and not a knock off?

It says REDMON Precision Scale on the front and W.C. Redmon on the bottom. It is made in China though.

What do I do if the scale is off?

I'm going to assume that you're referring to the accuracy of the scale, and if that's the case, make sure the batteries are fresh (you might want to re-seat them, just in case) and that you have it on a solid, smooth surface and that it is level and that there's no grime or anything like that on the feet. Also, make sure that the "unit" settings are as you want, grams vs ounces. I use a 10 lb dumbbell to test mine out, and it registers at 9 lb 15.5 ounces, which is close enough for me. I also have a Taylor kitchen scale and have compared some lighter weights on the 2 different scales and they come out very close.
