I use it for homemade sourdough and it doesn’t drag the dough at all, I barely have to apply pressure, and it cuts deep enough but not too deep. Installing the blade is easy and I love that it comes with so many replacement blades.It’s also great that it comes with a little “sheath” as well as a box so that the open blade doesn’t dull, the pieces all stay together, and you don’t have to worry about having an open blade in a drawer. I will say that my particular box’s lid doesn’t stay on great, but well enough that it’s not a big deal.I was worried the curved blade would be difficult to use effectively, but it doesn’t seem to cause any issues when scoring dough. It’s definitely a great value, the handle feels sturdy, especially for the price. I’d definitely recommend!Update: I had to replace the blade after using it for about 6 loaves. It started to drag the dough.

Very nice, well made and a good price. Comes with extra blades, a leather cover for the blade and a nice plastic box to store the lame in. The blade is easy to attach to the wood handle. I would recommend it.

I read reviews before buying this item. Some said it was very dull and would not score bread dough, but it works quite well. They key is to rub a bit of flour on the dough before scoring, that way it doesn't stick. The blades are plenty sharp and the storage box is nice. One reviewer complained that the box does not latch, but gravity works just fine keeping the top on. I'm sure this handy item will last a long, long time.

Just saying, I’ve been making bread for many years, and have used a one sided blade or sharp knife to score. The thinness of the bade is a game changer and I’m very pleased well worth the price and I like the little blade cover too.

Great tool, but like all successful baking, it requires learning the right technique. For best results, first insert the loaf(s) to be lamed into the preheated oven for 30 seconds. This flash dries the dough’s surface and makes it easier to cut. Happy baking.

Super sharp, but flexible razors with a nice handle. Can use to make simple slices on bread tops or to use to make designs. Happy with his purchase.
