SOWING: Season: Annual Sow: March - June Height: 62 inches (160 cm) Blooms Time: July - September Environment: Full sun Water: Medium Depth: 1/2 inch (1 cm) Ideal for: Cottage gardens, wildlife gardens Sow at 1/2" (1cm) deep, at 20-25C. When large enough to handle, thin to 45cm (18in) apart. For best results, sow Helianthus annuus seed in individual 10cm pots of moist seed compost in April to May, cover with cling film and place on a sunny windowsill or greenhouse bench. Remove the cling film once the seeds have germinated, and water plants regularly, allowing the water to drain. Pot on into larger pots with multipurpose compost, before eventually planting outside once all risk of frost has passed.
