Does the job I wanted for, let me explain! I recently found that leaving metal rimmed pan lids on an induction hob, all beit on some kitchen roll to catch the dripping steam off them, can still cause the hob to come on, if touch controls are caught or maybe randomly be itself! This then burnt the metal rim of the lid and could have got very dangerous had I not noticed it. A similar thing happened during this year's Master Chef, with a baking tray on the hob (as hobs get used as a flat surface for getting things ready!) and hers did the same thing, came on and burnt her food.So I've taken the base of this and stuck a small silicone baking sheet to the underside so as not to scratch my hob and I can now leave this on the hob to put the pad lid on whilst cooking. Couldn't find a circular chopping board big enough for large pan lids so this 35cm was perfect :-)I also found that I can still use it on the table with the base without re-attaching it if I want to use it for it's actual purpose as the silicon sheet creates just the right amount of friction.

Use this for my tea coffee and sugar to stand on. Looks lovely and very good quality. Easy to clean.
