Good for simple jobs.
Lightweight so it’s easy to work with but it doesn’t get as hot as a plug in one does.

Not worth it
Had a reason to buy one today, bought locally for $149. It is one speed, one setting, on or off. Not saying it is a poorly built tool, it’s a Milwaukee after all. Seems well built. But it is, an minimum, $100 overpriced. Buy a cheap one and be much further ahead. This is a perfect instance of Milwaukee counting on the customer to buy the tool simply because they have the batteries for it. I will be returning mine and getting my $150 back. A rip off

Excellent tool; bad seller
I've used this tool extensively for heating shrink tubing on electrical connections and it is excellent for that. People complain that it drains batteries quickly but there are at least a couple of things you need to consider when you see that claim: first, what is the capacity of the battery being used? Higher-capacity batteries are going to give you more working time with this gun than lower-capacity batteries. And second, do you know how inefficient it is to turn electricity into heat? It takes a heck of a lot of electricity to make heat. This is why there are no battery-powered blow dryers or space heaters and why heating your house with electricity costs so much. So basically, don't expect this tool to magically do things no other electrically powered heat source can do and you will have realistic expectations and probably be very pleased with this tool's functionality. I am.Well, I just bought one for myself through Amazon, from a third-party seller called Goldunya, and I would not recommend purchasing anything from this seller. The listing said the heat gun was in "used – like new" condition, while in fact the item was nowhere near "like new". Numerous dings and blemishes; looks like it's been dropped, and it's definitely been banged into things. Returning for refund.

Average
Works as described. A bit under powered and underwhelming. Does not heat as well as a plug in unit.
