yes, cable is bi-directional. just make sure the 1/8" is an input. I have seen issues with trying this with camcorder type devices because the 1/8" input is 4-conductor and is designed to transport analog composite video and audio. Hope this helps.

It should work on any 1/8 in stereo out. However, you will need an RCA adapter to whatever the Aux. input is on your system. Hope this helps.

If you are meaning to connect the speakers directly to the phone or tablet, then no - you'll need an amplifier somewhere in between. If you have an amplifier/stereo/etc that has RCA inputs, then this might work, but more likely you would need a 1/8" to RCA male y-cable (usually, RCA connectors on an amp or stereo will be RCA female).
