I purchased this in July 2012 to mount my DROID RAZOR to my 2002 Yamaha V-STAR 650. I went to the RAM website to purchase direct, but decided to buy from Amazon since the RAM website could not expedite shipping and handling. They wanted to take a week, Amazon could get it to me overnight. That is where the good part of the experience ended.There are at least three different sizes of boxes that can be purchased. I had to select the largest since the inside dimensions of the medium box would not fit a DROID. DROID's are fairly common, I would think RAM would make a box just for them.The box comes unassembled. A clear membrane has to be fitted to the top cover. This is a bit tricky, but would have been well worth it if the membrane worked as advertised. With the membrane installed the touch screen on your device should still work. I tried it with an iPOD and an DROID touch screen. Neither worked unless I held the device tight to the membrane and poked the screen very hard.To overcome this limitation, I figured that there had to be more contact between the device and the membrane. The box is about three inches deep. It does come with three pads to build it up, but even that was not enough. I added various things at the bottom of the box to get the phone so it made full contact with the membrane. Not only did this not address the problem, but my phone overheated and shut down.I decided to give it a go anyway and used it by setting up my phone in Navigation mode, so that I did not need to press any buttons. The membrane was so shiny, it prevented me from being able to see the screen.The mounting hardware was poorly machined. We had to run the mounting bolt through the holes a few times, off of the bike, before it would smoothly fit over the bolts. There is a hole at bottom of the box that can be punched out for wires. This is not the ideal placement for such a hole. It should be in one of the sides since you'd have to fish the wire around all the padding blocks to run it out the bottom.The box was HUGE. It could not be mounted on any type of bike that had a ferring with a radio or gauges in it. This was not a problem for me because my bike did not have a ferring, but it did look huge, and out of place.The RAM website wants $76.00 without shipping. Amazon's price was better, but that was still way to much to pay, even if it had worked as advertised.The one saving grace is I bought this from Amazon and can return it with no hassle.Do not buy this product!

It appears to be a great product and up to RAM's usual high standards, and was a perfect fit for my Samsung Galaxy Note 8. However, I was not able to use it, as the touch screen on the Note 8 was 95% unusable through the RAM box's flexible membrane. I don't know if this is due to my phone or due to the thickness of the RAM membrane. Phone was installed WITHOUT any additional screen protectors or case that could have interfered with its operation.
