Great for understanding the probabilistic underpinnings of statistics.
In college I took at least 4 courses in statistics, but had to drop out of my probability classes for need to work while in school. This book is a great instruction on the probabilistic underpinnings of statistics. It is easy to read and so far explains it quite clearly.

Revised
Savage was well ahead of his time with the Foundations of Statistics. It is not an easy book and you need a good bit of math to get through it. It is, however, dated. The advancements in probability theory: Bayesian Networks, AI, etc. have made this a good, historical text. Unlike 99% of the ‘statistics texts’ that are out there and are useless.

Packed with Theory
Very foundational work on decision theory. Be prepared to have your noggin challenged! Make sure you brush up on boolean algebra and calculus. A fundamental understanding of probabilities is needed too.

A classic from 1954
I like this book because it addresses not only the usual "frequentist" approach taught in many undergraduate programs, but also includes "personal" aspects of statistics. This is not a "casual" reading text; it is fairly terse and requires some mathematical sophistication on the part of the reader

Excellent work by one of the best mathematicians/statisticians/scientists
Amazing book. It teaches and describes a science (Savagean Statistics) through which one can address and solve numerical issues which basic statistics cannot, due to its several limitations.

Savage on Statistics
This book is often taken as establishing the 'Bayesian' approach to statistics, but Savage gives some important caveats. I discuss these at my blog, djmarsay.wordpress.com, which you can search for 'Savage'.

Everything was perfect. Firstly, the book was as described and secondly the delivery time as it was supposed to be.

Classico, basico per l'area disciplinare
E' un testo necessario a chiunque si interessi di "Probabilità e Statistica". Un testo che peraltro conferma il valore del contributo assicurato da Bruno de Finetti allo sviluppo del pensiero probabilistico, nella proiezione applicativa delle reti bayesiane.
