Sturdy, secure, quick and relatively cheap if you going to get some, get these
I'll start by listing its flaws, if you're an in-between size and cant work out which you need, buy small, my first pair were slightly too large and slipped on my shoes; not enough to cause an accident but enough to make for some interesting moments on steep slopes, plus even with the right size the back can be the tiniest bit loose in side to side movement so be careful walking across slopes. That said...For the price I was expecting something much lower quality, what I got was a pair of great, quick to put on shoe spikes, I used these on a recent trip to the lake district where I found they're ideal for steep slopes of wet grass or loose dirt, they provided that extra bit of traction and rigidity that had me climbing easier in a pair of approach shoes than my friends in a pair of B2 climbing boots; plus so long as you buy the right size they're good on rocks too.In short if you're going to be sliding about in regular boots but the conditions aren't right for a full pair of crampons these will do the job and maybe save you from getting too personal with the local dirt.Plus I have no idea what that Velcro strap is for, its far too short to go round ankles, over the shoe or anywhere it would be useful for securing the crampon, answers on the back of a postcard.

Durable so far
Great for the price. Give yourself that extra grip. These are not for climbing obviously but they do the job at certain level of ice/snow conditions. I also used them on a descent through a rocky stream and they were very stable on the wet stone without being overly carefull. Not much technique required. Probably that's where they have advantage over more advanced crampons. I gave them a good bashing on these rocky surfices and they remained solid without any bends/wear signs. They snowball a bit but hey, they are the most basic spikes you can get. Just whack it off and move along. They won't make you tea either.

A little more cross-bracing at the front could improve the crampons.
Worked very well on my walk today, and was what I expected ... Lightweight and effective.I could suggest that perhaps a little more lateral bracing needed at the FRONT, for the toes steer body. That is, the ‘diamond’ set beneath the toes and ball of the foot could benefit from an extra diagonal set crossways, to hold the side spikes more under the ‘edges’ of the foot.Nice item and good value, and the comment is simply to help you!I wear them because I walk alone and at 80+ good sense suggests that I am careful when in rough country away from roads

Sure footing on ice
Used these on the frozen lakes of the Canadian Rockies. Size M fitted my size 43 (UK 9) boots perfectly. Very secure even on sloping ice once you have mastered the technique of placing all 18 spikes down together before you put your weight on that foot.

Wow! Exceptional for the money!
Amazing! These things could save your life! Big big difference on packed snow and ice without them. A must have addition to your backpack if you're heading into the fells in winter conditions.
