Is it soft? What is the color on the back? The colors in the room are tan and wine furniture with a little green. Wondered if it would look ok....

The back side is an antique yellow with rose colored and green flowers. I wouldn't say that it is soft, it is a cotton blend that has a little bit of a stiff feel. I fold it down to the end of the bed at night and don't sleep with it. Hope this helps.

How thick is it ? Would it fit on a queen bed ?

It is thick enough to be considered a blanket. It is probably a better size for a queen then a king size. We have a king size bed and though we use it as a decorative cover, it doesn't really fit a king size. If you are looking for a decorative cover, there is the same design in the bedspread section. I bought that as well. It fits our king size but would actually be wonderful for a queen. The sides where the bedspread come down hits the mattress so of course I already had a mattress iron support cover which makes it a little more of a challenge to make the bed. I hope I answered your questions. By the way the bedspread comes with 2 king size pillow covers in the same Greenland Home Antique design. They are beautiful.

Is there a pocket for hanging on the back of this throw?

This is really a beautiful throw. Since I gave it as a gift I didn't unpackage it all the way. So I don't know if there is a pocket or not. I am assuming there is not one.
