Transitions? What transitions?..Blows: the dust off!!! WOW!!!
...this happened to pop in my door with the Sebasatian/Total cd....I don't think Sebastian is getting a good run as I haven't been able to take this baby out of the player.I really don't care for how tracks are/aren't mixed together but I do like watching fast oriental chefs on the food network. The song selection is everything to me I'd prefer they weren't mixed at all - I really enjoy hearing new tracks start to finish to see how/if they unfold, do they change along the way or just drone on and bore. I looked at this with more attention as I noticed Laurie Anderon's O Superman, Sebastian's 'Dolami', Outlander's 'Vamp' on here - I got curious/previewed/bought....if '90/91 were favorite years for you musically you're gonna love this (I swear I hear Eon's 'Spice' in here somewhere). If you see the odd track on here you're known to hate, and I did, don't worry about it as the 'stupid' sounding vocal sections are not here - this man has such a great ear!!!! and I can think of no-one that beats him in this genre. If you don't like electronic music - forget it. Meant for those with an ear for such things it resurrects you to your feet via great beats, grinding hoover mechanical noize, clever, feet tapping, electro-funk galore...and I looked at the stars (rather lack of/again) and was almost duped - what a shame that would've been. I've had the Simian Mobile Disco disc in this series for about two years and thought IT was the bee's knees....it blows: the dust off life.

Skillful mix but questionable track selection
I'll be the first to admit I'm NOT a fan of Boys Noize. I've given his music many chances but it always fails to impress. The sound is most often too generic, repetitive and cheesy. That being said I always try to be open minded and give Boys Noize several listens before passing judgment. I enjoy mix CDs by artists who are primarily producers because it usually gives me a chance to experience their personal tastes beyond what they produce. Boys Noize Bugged Out Mix is eclectic at times but mostly bland and boring. The mixing itself however is quite good. Tracks flow seamlessly and are mixed quickly into and over top each other. This attests to Boys Noise mixing skill but unfortunately the track selection doesn't match. Here are my thoughts on Boys Noize - Bugged Out - Suck My Deck mix;1. DANCE - Justice 4/10 (Bad Steven Hawking sounding intro)2. Next Of Kin - Surkin 3/10 (Bland pop sounding loop with beats)3. Arpeggio - Jackson & His Computer Band 4/10 (Below average sounding Breaks track)4. Dolami - Sebastian 7/10 (Decent gritty Sebastian track)5. Suckerpin - Modeselektor 7/10 (Solid and heavy Modeselektor tune)6. Cheap Thrills - Apparat 5/10 (Run of the mill scratch/breaks track)7. Beat The Bush - Alter 7/10 (Great sounding and straight forward techno track)8. Sunburnt - Das Glow 7/10 (Average but nice sounding techno)9. Shake It To The Ground - DJ Blaqstarr & Rye Rye 2/10 (Booty/Ghetto House without of the 4x4)10. Poke - Shadow Dancer 5/10 (Electro/Breaks filler)11. Cowbois - Shadow Dancer 5/10 (More average Electro/Breaks filler)12. Mein Neues Fahrad - Siriusmo 5/10 (Average Breaks)13. Lava Lava - Boys Noize 6/10 (Mixers own average techno track)14. Hoes Get Down - High Powered Boys 3/10 (More lame sounding Booty/Ghetto house)15. Stakker Humanoid - Humanoid 5/10 (Average cheesy techno filler)16. Is You - DIM 5/10 (Annoying looped vocal trying to hard to sound like Josh Wink)17. Don't Feed The Cat - DJ Koze 4/10 (More boring techno with lots of handclaps and stretched synth noises)18. Video Crash - Jefferson, Marshall 4/10 (Bland Acid House from Jefferson)19. Oh Superman - Anderson, Laurie 1/10 (Gimmicky garbage sample track)20. Donna - MMM 6/10 (The average blippy techno onslaught continues)21. D1 - Soundhack 6/10 (Yes, more bland techno)22. Spinal Beats/D1 - Bangalter, Thomas/Soundhack 7/10 (Finally some Bangalter to stop you from turning the mix off)23. DeDeDepella/Spinal Beats - Boys Noize/Thomas Bangalter 6/10 (At least Bangalter is still in the track)24. Weiss Gaz - Das Glow 6/10 (more average sounding techno from Das Glow)25. I Like To Move It - Reel 2 Real & The Mad Stuntman 0/10 (The epitome of awfulness. Luckily it's the instrumental version and only lasts a minute. If you need a drink, now's the time to go get one)26. You Can't Stop - Auto-Repeat 7/10 (I used to spin this track over 10 years ago so I can't throw stones on this one)27. In Order To Dance/Ghetto Obsession - Housemeister/Surkin 6/10 (A solid but bland techno track)28. Thomas - Puzique 8/10 (I've always liked the gritty sound of this track)29. Phantom II - Justice 6/10 (Too bad this is really the Boys Noize Remix of Phantom II and not the original)30. Arcade Robot - Boys Noize 5/10 (Perfect reason I'm not a fan of Boys Noise sound. Step away from the effects sampler please!)31. Vamp - Outlander 7/10 (I'm a sucker for old school rave sounding tracks, guilty as charged)32. Hasta Leugo Manchego - Ost & Kjex 2/10 (Ooh, they're swearing in this track. All the kids will love it!)33. Passives - Faints 2/10 (I can't even explain the relevance of this track)34. Wanderer (Journey Man Thump) - Romanthony 4/10 (Classic Romanthony but at this point, who really cares?)Sarcasm aside I was impressed with the mixing skills of Boys Noize but realize we don't exactly have the same taste in music. There were roughly half a dozen tracks that I really enjoyed (most of them I had heard in other artist's sets whom I'm a bigger fan of). Boys Noize success has clearly garnered his fair share of fans but I just can't count myself among them. I will however keep giving his music a chance in the hopes of it one day striking a chord.
