Q: How wide are these shoes? Will a brace fit in them?

They are average width with ample toe room. My husband usually wears a wide shoe because his foot is not flexible to get in the opening. The opening on these are a little snug. I think a brace might be tight. They are awesome shoes though.

For reference, on size 13 that length is 13.5 inches.

No idea how long in inches is size 12 . We bought size 10/1/2 and they fit perfectly! Sorry, can't help you!
