Moisturizing with fresh taste. Asts about 30 minutes. It's kind of gooey, I like the spray better.

OraCoat Xyligel dry mouth gel If only companies would realize that people who suffer from dry mouth also tend to have easily irritated tissues including their tongues. If a person with dry mouth also uses C-Pap for sleep apnea their dry mouth is even worse than normal. Therefore, it is best to have NO flavor at all in a dry mouth gel, spray etc. If there is any flavor it needs to be VERY mild and preferably not citrus (even though this states there's no citric acid, it does seem to contain something irritating). The amount of grit in this is rediculous in my opinion. It's so bad it even irritates my bladder. Can't return it. Decided to try this one after using the one that starts with B for many years and was happy with it until they changed the formula and now it's useless for myself anyway (the B= It doesn't work. It's thin and doesn't last but a few minutes) but this is a definate no. Then I tried this same brands (Xylitol) type that comes in a little tablet with a sticky side that adheres to your teeth and they make the tissues of my gums and the inside of my cheeks irritated because the tablet it too hard. It's dry xylitol or sorbitol and it's so hard (compact) it rubs and irritates the tissue. Also noticed that the corners of my mouth got irritated and would cause my mouth to be slightly drooling in the corners!! Very weird. Then I tried the one that starts with S (gel) and it was such a gross consistency and taste I wanted to send it back as well. Finally, I just tried the one that starts with A and ends with Y and It's Victory at last!! It has very little taste and it's a pleasant taste, not gross. It's thick enough to last yet not like globs. It surprised me that it lasts for 1-1/2 hours at least, maybe more because I use it while sleeping. Finally got a good nights sleep and only had to use it 2-3 times. The one starts with B had to Use about every 20 mins. or so since they changed the formula. I use the dry mouth gel at night and use a C-pap machine. Not to mention my mouth opens. So I personally don't recommend this brand (OraCoat) based on all the above issues. I can definately recommend the last one I tried (of course) that starts with an A and ends with a Y. Thank God, something that tastes good, actually works really well, doesn't irritate the mouth, only takes a small amount and lasts a long time. Hope this helps someone because it is a difficult problem to find a solution for, especially at night.

I'm writing this review to encourage others to try this for a few days before giving up on it. I tried this after not being able to get Biotene mouth gel for so long. Hated it at first - it is kind of goopy and white, not clear. However, I reduced how much I used at one time and found it lasts all night, whereas Biotene would be gone if I woke in the middle of the night. I am still going to order Biotene as soon as it becomes available to use in the day time. But I think I will continue to use the OraCoat Xyligel when I'm asleep. In fact, I just set up a recurring monthly purchase of this.

I have tried everything out there for dry mouth syndrome. I also have OLP (Oral Lichen Plantis) which compounds the problem. The OLP creates open ulcers. Most products for dry mouth have mint or sometimes cinnamon. Some even have a small amount of alcohol. Putting something like mint or other flavors to to stimulate saliva on an open wound in your mouth, produces a whole new level of pain. I am sure it is prohibited in the Geneva Convention as an inhumane torture. Another issue with most of the artificial saliva products is that they do not last long. The Xyligel by Oracoat is so far the best product for me. It is far from perfect, but it is the best of the products I have used.
