Great tasting snacks

I bought the Hot Short Shots because I was craving jerky and I wanted something inexpensive. I like really spicy food, so I should first agree with the other reviewers that these snacks will not light your mouth on fire, but there is a noticeable bite to them. But that doesn't stop them from being a thousand times tastier than a Slim Jim or even from regular, grocery store jerky. Plus, they are low calorie - just 25 cal per stick - so they make a great mid-day snack.But there's more to them than their deliciousness. When they arrived, they came well packaged, with a menu of other Choo Choo R products, and even some samples of their other great jerky. This is clearly a company that wants happy customers, and I am happy that my business is going to someone who deserves it.I will definitely be getting these on a regular basis now - I'm hooked!

Ordered a habanero pack at first and it was 5 star material. Taste and texture were great, the sticks came neatly organized like in the picture, and firmness was just right. Even when you first rip the bag open an intense cloud of habanero beef smell fills the room. The only downside was stomach cramps from being too spicy but that's an inevitable side effect.Fast forward a couple weeks later I decide to order the hot flavor. This time it is not 5-star material- not just taste-wise, but other much larger factors. First, the sticks were all jumbled up as if someone had shaken the bag a few times; of course it really is not a big deal at all, but after opening them up I noticed the sticks were also slightly mushy rather than firm. It is kind of like the difference between an al dente and overcooked noodle, with the skin losing some elasticity and insides being mushy and rather unpleasant. This bad feel paired with the poorly organized sticks made me wonder if there was a shipping issue, as this time there was no intense scent bomb despite being a year before the best-by date- probably a small hole in the bag I can't seem to find?I still give this 4 stars just because I want to believe that future purchases will be as good a quality as the habanero ones, and that I just got unlucky.

Move over Slim Jim there is a new sheriff in town named Buffalo Bills! These things are delicious! I went with the hot sticks and am not disappointed at all with the product. The only thing that would be nice is if the bag resealed perhaps? But it's dried meat sticks so it isn't like just tucking the bag over neatly and securing it with a rubber band or chip clip or whatever is going to dry your snacks out. I plan on pouring mine into a big ziploc though anyway. They are hot and spicy without being terrible. If you LOVE really, really hot stuff you will probably not think this is hot enough, perhaps? It's plenty spicy and just the right temperature for my tastebuds though. Better than a Slim Jim and without that orange, greasy part that they have. They are shorter than I thought they'd be based on the picture but now see they tell you they are 3.5" You get a pound and 14 ounces which is unbeatable at the price. Less than a quarter per snack. No way can I get anything comparable in the stores for this price. Especially for the quality and tasty product you get. Definitely will plan to try other tasty flavors from this vendor in the future though!

These are absolutely great BUT JUSST RIDICULOUSLY OVER PRICED AND ITS ASHAME BECAUSE THATS ONLY REASON PREVENTING ME FROM REORDERING

I wanted to try these out because of the price and because it seemed to have solid reviews. I really like Slim Jims, and this looked similar and had good reviews.I didn't notice any mushiness that some people claimed. I thought it had a good snap to it, although you can definitely see where the casing is and the rest of the product, and sometimes it will just slide out a bit.I like the packaging. You can stick these into a big slider ziplock bag and it makes it far more convenient than any individually wrapped product, like Slim Jims are. I don't know how well it will keep that way, but I think it should be fine because, well, these products are pretty much designed to be kept like that. I don't know why some companies individually wrap theirs, maybe someone else can chime in on that.And now for the negative. Originally I tried to be more diplomatic with it, because I didn't want to dock stars for it not tasting like a Slim Jim. My brother absolutely hated the sticks and considers them disgusting. I held out that they weren't that bad, but after forcing myself to eat them the last few days I now give up.But worse is the ingredients. These things pack MSG. There is no nutritional label so we don't even know the percentage of it. But it is listed as an ingredient. Now it depends on you if that is a problem or not, for me personally I want to avoid MSG so this product doesn't work for me.I will likely throw away the rest of what I have. It is better to go for regular jerky, which can actually be healthy. These sticks are however a different product that you have to look at carefully, and for me the taste just isn't good enough to justify eating them.
