Old school cool that actually delivers — who knew 2012 tech could still rock?
Samsung SSG-4100GB 3D Active Glasses from 2012 — yes, you read that right, 2012. These bad boys might be vintage, but they still work like a charm. It’s like finding a classic mixtape that still jams better than half the playlists today. What’s great: 3D Magic: They bring your screen to life like a popcorn movie on steroids — and without the annoying headaches some other 3D glasses cause. Comfort: Surprisingly comfy for something that looks like it belongs in a sci-fi movie from the early 2000s. Battery Life: Lasts long enough for you to binge an entire trilogy without reaching for the charger — impressive for 2012 tech! Compatibility: Still plays nicely with my Samsung gear, proving that some old friendships last forever. Sarcastic nuggets: Stylish? Eh, they scream “I’m retro and I know it.” Bonus points if you want to look like a low-key futuristic spy. Weight? Let’s just say they’re more “solid presence” than “feather light.” You’ll feel like you’re ready for takeoff. The fact they still work makes me suspicious they’ve been secretly powered by elves or tiny hamsters on wheels. Final thoughts: If you want 3D glasses that actually work without making you question your life choices, the Samsung SSG-4100GB 2012 model is a surprise winner. Old but gold, with just enough geek charm to make you smile. Rating: 5 stars — because some classics never die.

They may be older but they work great with Epson 3D Projectors
Given the fact that these were an older, I was wary of ordering them for fear that they wouldn't be compatible with my Epson HC2000. I picked up a couple of pairs of the later SSG-5100GB models, which worked great with my Epson HC2000 home projector (no adapter required with the 3D Epsons, unlike the DLP projectors). However, when some 3rd party sellers started offering these for $9.95 shipped or less for brand new ones, I had to pull the trigger on a few pairs. These glasses, like all Samsung 3D Active glasses are very simple and straightforward for use with Epson Projectors. You pull the glasses out, insert the included battery behind the center portion, pop in the pieces that go around your ears, remove the protective lens covers. After this you turn on your projector and then turn on the glasses. After a few seconds the projector will automatically register them and the glasses start working great. I have 3 pairs of Samsung SSG-5100GB glasses and 9 pairs of these Samsung SSG4100GB glasses and outside of slight styling differences the only difference you will see is the price. Take a look at the third party sellers and you can get these for dirt cheap brand new (Good luck finding any other comparable quality RF Active 3D Glasses for less than $10 a pair). Very pleased with the versatility of these glasses. They are also light and relatively comfortable and can work in conjunction with regular glasses (this is how my wife uses them). Just be sure to stock up on a bulk package of the 3V CR2032 batteries and you will be good to go.

Devours batteries!
I picked these up after reading an article on CNET that compared these to the "official" Panasonic which stated that there is very little difference between the two. As I don't have the Panasonic glasses, I can't compare the two, but I can confidently say that these work perfectly with my new Panasonic GT50. They synced up as soon as I turned them on, no setup needed at all. Bonus! They turn off automatically when they no longer detect any activity from the TV, which is also nice. I notice no crosstalk at all, but I'm no videophile and I'm not really straining to spot any. 3D is crisp and clear and beautiful. I have used the 2D->3D conversion option on my GT50 for everything from Spongebob to Skyrim and they all look fantastic. I picked up one pair to try them out and overall I am pleased, but I think I may wait for a sale on the Panasonic glasses and pick up a few of those instead of these. Reason? Batteries. I've used these for about 1.5 hours total with the brand new included battery and the battery is already at roughly 75%. I don't know how accurate the battery indicator is, but if I'm only going to get 6 hours per battery, that's going to get quite expensive, especially if I pick up a pair for everyone in the family. I can't see dropping $10 to buy 4 new batteries every 6 hours. I want to use them when I want to use them, not feel like I shouldn't because I'm going to drain the battery. If these glasses are used 3 hours per day, every day, for one month, I will have spent the $40 that I saved over buying the Panasonics on replacement batteries. If you are a casual solo user, these work perfectly well, are lightweight, and comfy to boot, but any moderate use will end up costing you more in the long run.

Cheap, light, effective and universal - what more could you want?
So glad that Panasonic and Samsung decided to join the Universal 3D glasses consortium as it's now possible to buy one pair of 3D glasses that work with multiple brands of 3D TVs. We've tested these particular glasses with a Panasonic 2012 ST50 model (TC-P55ST50) as well as a 2012 Samsung plasma and they synced immediately and worked well. They also work with 2011 Samsung TVs but they will *NOT* work with 2011 Panasonic TVs, nor the Panasonic 3D projector (PT-AE7000U) as these use the older Panasonic IR 3D glasses. If you use these on a Panasonic TV, you may notice very subtle differences between these and the Panasonic 3D glasses in terms of brightness and color saturation but I think most people would find these ones perfectly fine for 3D viewing. Considering the price difference (currently under $18 for these and a little over $50 for the least expensive Panasonic glasses), I'd say load up on these and put them in a bowl on the coffee table for guests, but maybe stash a couple of the Panasonic glasses in a drawer for more "serious" viewers. In terms of the form factor, these glasses are super-light. They come in 3 pieces: the main unit that sits on your nose with lenses plus two detachable temples. Plug the temple pieces into the main lens piece, insert the battery, hit the power button on the bridge and you're good to go. They should sync to the TV quickly as long as the TV is on and displaying 3D content. Batteries (CR-25 button cells) are available on Amazon for under $2 for 5 so I'd recommend buying 1 or 2 of these 5-packs and just stick 'em in a drawer. According to Samsung, the glasses will last up to 70 hours (of active use) per battery, so you won't need to replace the batteries often. All in all, a great product for an excellent price.

Right Price; Great Product
I bought two of these for use with my new Epson projector, which came with two $80+ pair of Epson glasses. There is a little ghosting compared with the Epson glasses, but on the other hand, the Espon glasses are heavier and seem to reflect more light on the internal lens than these Samsungs, which I find bothersome. Adjusting 3D depth makes most of the ghosting disappear but at the cost of a more robust 3D experience. You need to get used to what the lights mean(push for steady red to make sure they go off) and the on-off button is quite small, but even my fat fingers can use it. It pairs quite easily, although it can take a couple of tries, but once paired these never lost contact. Non-eyeglass wearers found that the nose-piece bothered their nose a little. I wear glasses and was not bothered by the nose-piece. These glasses are not really large so it takes a little bit of adjusting on your nose to get them to cover existing glasses. On the other hand, the Epson's are not much larger. As one reviewed said, the arms are fixed and don't fold, but if you're really worried about storage, the arms pop right off. Epson's are rechargeable, these take batteries. For the price, these are a great product. I will probably use these over the Epsons. My wife prefers the Epsons. If you want more comfort, and are really sensitive to ghosting (which may not entirely be the glasses' doing), go with a more expensive pair. If you aren't too worried about that, or for guests, these fit the bill perfectly, esepcially at this price. I will probably buy a couple more pair.

Works with Epson 6020
Not only do these glasses work with the Epson 6020 (and therefore will work with the Epson 3020 and 5020), but they seem to work just as well as the (~$99) glasses that came with the pj. [Caveat: I just installed the Epson last night. It's my third pj but my first 3D pj. And I have not yet fine tuned the setup. Once it is tuned, a difference might appear between these Samsung glasses and the Epson glasses. I'll update here if that happens.] The glasses are lighter and arguably "flimsier" than the Epson glasses. But at the price I paid, I could go through five pairs of these Samsung glasses and have saved money, even counting the cost of batteries. I was going only give four stars because the batteries aren't rechargeable but it actually tells you that in the description. Plus I've reached a point of wisdom that products with rechargeable, non-replaceable batteries mean the whole product becomes garbage once the internal batteries no longer hold charge. I can buy a lifetime supply of batteries for these glasses with the money I've saved. These do fit over my eyeglasses. These glasses are open on the sides so they might not do as well in a lighted environment. One battery is included.

Great 3D but awkward design
You can't beat the price for these 3D glasses. It's a smart way to keep several pair on hand for guests, but I'm not convinced they are the best glasses for primary use. The 3D effect is very good, I have no complaints about that. However, the design is seriously lacking, in my personal opinion. The glasses don't have sides and even the tops are open, so they let in too much light and other distractions. I really don't think it would have cost more than a few cents more to offer better coverage, and I would be willing to pay even an additional $5 for that tiny bit of extra plastic. I'm considering picking up some soft black fabric and a hot glue gun to make side curtains :) The glasses do not fold, so they are awkward to store. The box they came in won't work for storage since it only held the un-assembled glasses, but I was able to find some small boxes large enough to hold each pair safely when not in use. The clear 3D view wins 5 stars from me. I deducted 2 stars for the issues above.

Huge savings for Panasonic owners
Got these to use with a 2013 Panasonic Plasma and they seem to work as well as the Panasonic brand that came with the TV. Assembly is simple except for installing the battery -- had real problems getting the compartment open. Other parts easily snap together. Once assembled, they do not fold and will not store in the box in which they shipped. They are definitely inexpensive construction, but wear comfortably (even over prescription glasses). No problem pairing with TV (you will not see any on screen indication they are working as they are not Panasonic brand) but a light goes on on the glasses and a look at the screen will tell you immediately if they are functioning. Other reviewers complain that they are open on the sides but that seems to make them lighter and easier to wear and I view plasma TV in a very dimly lit room so ambient light is minimal anyway. Most important, these seem to provide 3D viewing every bit as good as OEM glasses manufactured by Panasonic at about 1/3 the cost. Great choice for extra glasses to have on hand for guests.

Does the trick.
Not the most comfortable, but these glasses certainly work well at a fair price compared to others. I use them with a Panasonic UT50 plasma tv.
