Excellent science starter kit
I got this kit for my 5-year-old daughter who loves doing little experiments and I decided to try this kit out. It comes with a set of items that facilitate a range of relatively easy and fun experiments. The kit contains: red cabbage juice powder, citric acid, baking soda, color tablets, cross-linked polyacrylamide crystals, vegetable oil, corn starch, 2 sheets of goldenrod paper, 2 cotton swabs, 3 test tubes and caps, 3 clear plastic cups, 1 pipette (in the form of an eye dropper), 2 stir sticks, 1 small plastic scoop, and 1 medium plastic scoop. The experiments also call for some basic and easy-to-find household items such as water, baking flour, plate/tray, tape, red and blue pens, grape juice, coffee filter paper, etc. An older child may be able to conduct these experiments by him/herself though I feel adult supervision is necessary (it is also recommended by the manufacturer). I had to help my daughter with some parts of the experiments, especially those involving the use of citric acid. The experiments included here are: Dancing Powders Color changing liquids Acid or Base? - involves testing some safe household liquids to determine if they are acids or bases. Colorful Jiggle Crystals - we had so much fun with these! It does require patience as it takes up to 2 hours for the crystals to absorb the water and form into soft crystals. Test tube sunset Giant Jiggly Crystals Color Changing Volcano - this was awesome! We started on a modest scale making a small volcano, then I adapted the recipe and made a bigger one with bigger fizzy effects, to my preschooler's delight! Underwater Volcano Color Changing Paper Color Changing Grapes Magic Ooze Mix Colors with your eyes - mixing colors without them touching each other. Each experiment comes with detailed step by step instructions, and also a segment titled "Mind Blowing Science Secrets" which I found quite educational. Final verdict - this is an excellent beginner science kit that will motivate young children and enhance their interest in science. The experiments are easy to produce and great fun - definitely worth the money!

Fun kit!
Are the majority of these experiments something you could do yourself with some citric acid and baking soda? Absolutely. In fact, my daughter used some of my household supply to extend an experiment she had done in the kit. Sure, you can make your own red cabbage extract... but if you are like me, you won't. Because you did for a homeschool experiment 10 years ago with your oldest child, and you still remember what a horrible mess it was. Some of the experiments are repetitive, but that's a good thing for early childhood. And cornstarch and water? Everyone knows that one. (if you don't, google it. Too much fun to miss). But the point is, I had not done any of these experiments with my daughter until we got this box. This has everything in one box, with all the equipment-- including a stand for the test tubes, which another review didn't have for some reason. (And get a little bag superabsorbent polymers, too. Those little buggers are fun but somehow end up everywhere). It's fun, it's easy, there are some experiments that require patience, which is really good for this age group. We are most of the way through the kit, doing maybe three experiments a week, and now I am shopping for more kits. Because even though I have the equipment, the books, and the education to diy the whole thing... the kit is easy, fun, and we actually DO it.

Best Science kit ever!!!!
If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. My grandson requested a Science experiment for Monday. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so I ordered this not really knowing what I would get. He loved it! Played with it yesterday and played with it again today for 1 1/2 hours!!! He’s five! Cleaning up is a breeze!!!! I highly recommended it!

GREAT first POOF-Slinky Kit for my 6yo
This was a GREAT, fun, and exciting kit for my 6yo! She had a lot of fun with it, and we gave it to another friend as a birthday present. This was the first kit we bought. Be warned though, the second kit we bought was the Magic Wizard Science kit and it has basically all the same experiments. The main difference I find, this one gives more scientific information behind the experiments and the Wizard kits talks more about "magic". There are minor tweaks like adding a little water to the polyacrylamide in a test tube in this kit, then adding more, then adding more, etc, where in the wizard kit you place a couple of color tablets in water and a teaspoon of polyacrylamide to make the magic wand that doesn't really sparkle and impress. There is a volcano experiment, and though my 6yo LOVED it, it's a far cry from the paper mache erupting volcano I made as a kid as this one is a 2 inch tall cone that basically disintegrates. LOGICALLY, this was our first POOF-Slinky science kit (My First Mind Blowing Science). My 6yo LOVED it. Our second was the Wizard kit which I gave 1 star because the experiments were basically the same, we were both bummed and marketing wise one would think to buy this first and if you like it, but the other kits which will be different and more exciting...That second kit was not. This kit though is not only a great first kit for a 6yo, but also makes a great birthday present.

A fun kit that your young scientist will love!
This science kit is a hit with my 6-year-old niece! We gave it took her for Christmas along with a lab coat and goggles (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IVQHC0Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1), her first microscope (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I0CDSFY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s05?ie=UTF8&psc=1), and prepared slides (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009K4ED0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s05?ie=UTF8&psc=1). She loves these and we get lots of pictures throughout each week of her playing with her science kit, tools, and gear. She has also made her lab coat a main-stay in her weekly school attire. It is no surprise, really, since science is awesome and girls love science! This kit is extremely simple, both in contents and use. You need to have a few things on hand, but these are common household/kitchen stock items. You can get lots of uses/experiments out of one kit and it’s worth the joy you’ll see on your young scientist’s face! This is one of the best prices I found for similar kits, too. After we got these for her, she told us she wants to grow up to be a science doctor so she can do lots of fun experiments because she loves science! How could you not just love a 6-year-old that already dreams of getting a PhD in nuclear fusion!? Looks like next Christmas we will have to get her, her very first hadron collider. I just hope thirty years from now she remembers who got her, her first science kit. ;-)

Hardly ANY putty!!!!!
Although the set is fun to experiment with, you get virtually no putty overall. Possibly as much (total) as ¾ of a regular container I would guess. Regardless, it’s not enough to play with after you’re finished experimenting. Also, there is a neon yellow color added that is just ghastly. In both sets I’ve bought for kids, they each didn’t use that color at all and said what a waste to have added. A more moderate color would have been much more desirable and would have mixed much better. Also, unsure if it was just our sets, but anytime the tiny amount of glow in the dark was added to a color, it stoped becoming glowy. So some was wasted trying to make colors glow :(

Great Beginner Science Kit for Kids age 6+
This kit contains 11 activities. The instructions are accurate and easy to follow. There are understandable scientific explanations for the chemical reactions. All of the experiments worked like they were supposed to. This is a great kit because it contains red cabbage juice powder, which is used as an acid/base indicator. With a lot of other science kits you must buy the red cabbage to make the juice which is a pain to do. There are fizzy acid/base experiments made even more interesting by the addition of red cabbage juice powder because it causes the liquids to change color. You need a coffee filter to do a fun experiment using grape juice as the acid/base indicator. My children liked "drawing" on the dried purple coffee filter and seeing the color change. There are three activities using super absorbent polymer crystals. And there is an "ooze" mixture made from corn starch. Overall, a fun set of learning activities that my 8 year & 10 old enjoyed doing.

Not worth the money. Not interesting or much informative
I have received the product in October 2018 but the status shows "product on way, running late"!! I wonder what that means (it's almost Feb 2019 now)! Anyways, the game is on at too expensive for what it has. No price mentioned on the packet anywhere. All it contains is 1. a few plastic pouches with stuff normally easily available at home (baking soda etc) 2. 4 test tubes (plastic) with stand 3. Instruction booklet 4. Other small items like stirrer, pipette etc Overall, I wonder why is it priced so high as it's contents shouldn't cost more than Rs 100 max! The booklet also is not as informative or interesting as one might expect. I bought for my 7 yr old neice and ended up doing everything by myself while she got bored even looking at the experiments!! Guess her regular science book would have more interesting activities
