Useful for Older Bike Repair. but will only help you understand for Fuel Injection or ABS
The Book states:Fuel injection systems are not designed for home servicing and should be refer to the dealer.Motorcycles with ABS, or ECU engine management system is the same... Take it to a dealer. On newer models you will not fix your bike with this book. On older bikes this book would become more valuable.A more appropriate title for this book is how your motorcycles work. The book says it explains the theory of Motorcycle systems... nothing states it will help you repair them.. even though it tries at times to pretend it is a repair book. You will understand how Motorcycle systems works. I like the Anti lock Brake System chapter. Nice presentation. If you have an older motorcycle, this may help to repair these motorcycles and might get a 5 star. However since the book goes through many different systems you would still need to know what systems are on your on your bike.I am a Electronic Technician and my worry was it would be too simple. It is not. The book goes the basics quickly but thoroughly. It is well written and clearly described. It may be more than you want to know. If you think of this as a college text book than it would get 5 stars. It is 20 years behind Motorcycle technology being written in 2000. Still as a college tech book it is still useful.Since Electrical power goes through most systems after you get done you will understand how most of the systems work. If you have to go to a dealer you will know how to talk to the repair rep.I have a shop manual for my bike, there are several cautions that could damage my motorcycle that are not covered in the book. If your interested in repair you must have a shop manual to your bike.

A little old but loads of good information. VERY DETAILED!!
All I can say is that this is a great book to review or learn the theories and related technology of everything on Motorcycles. Electrical, Electronic and more. Great addition to my library.

Haynes' Electrical Techbook
Well written text covering the whole electrical ambit of modern motorcycles (and some older). The writer makes few assumptions regarding the reader's knowledge of electric motor & dynamo/alternator principles, and provides a good basic explanation of electron and electrical theory, electromagnetism and semiconductors. He even discusses basic 2/4 stroke theory, the stoichiometric ratio (and lamda), fuel injection and ABS. The theory presented lightens the mystery of the black box CDI e.g., although I wouldn't want to tackle and repair a fault in an ABS - but at least I now have a working knowledge of what makes it tick. Apart from the practical application of the theory, the text provides a good grounding for further more specific (and heavier) reading. For what it's worth, I would recommend this book to anyone as a general interest volume leading to a better understanding of what makes the beasts tick, or as practical background when fault finding and fixing.

Great book, useful information on basics for theory and ...
Great book, useful information on basics for theory and troubleshooting. It is written in "The Queen's English", so some of the terminology takes a bot of interpretation, but beyond that, it is great.

Excellent Reference
I bought a 1968 triumph that need a lot of electrical work. I was not very savvy on electrics. this book had everything I needed and much more. It starts with basic electrical principles and goes on from there. This a very good reference book to have when working on motorcycle electrics. This book goes much deeper than I had to go. I'm glad I have it if other problems emerge.

Good book
I've been a motor head since then early 1990s and have always had trouble with wiring. I used to hot rod with a 72 dodge dart with a 440. now I'm into bikes and have found this books to be great, wish there was something like this for cars back in the day. It would have been a great resource for learning.

Back to school with this textbook
As noted in the offer, this manual is more of a textbook than a tech manual. Still a very good reference to have in the workshop.

Needs updating
This book is very comprehensive, but due to it being published in 2000, it fails to come cover some systems used in more recent bikes, eg. The CAN-bus system used by BMW

Motorcycle Electrical Techbook
Great starter book with lots of info, only black and white pictures but that's to be expected with a paper back version. Great price.

a good reference book
As an electrician, I still find this a good reference book. May be a bit over-tech for some, but the info you need is there if you can get your head around it.
