Star Wars Character Encyclopedia Hardcover – January 1, 2013

There are way too many characters in the Star Wars universe and this tells you about most of them. I'll be honest that I didn't realize there was any sort of background information around the cantina band - I was wrong. No clue if it is completely accurate, but the kids don't seem to mind. They just love looking at the pictures and telling me how funny JarJar Binks is....I might have failed as a parent with that one.Books great. Price was great.

Well, if you're a Star Wars fan like I am, you're gonna love this book. It explains how each of the characters fits into the whole picture and what their strengths and weakness are. Everything makes more sense when all the characters are explained. And the work that went into costuming, weaponry and scenes is amazing. Buy the book!

Engrossing book for your little Star Wars fan. Star Wars character names are usually written phonetically so they are great for early readers to sound out. My four year old wore out his Clone Wars version of this and after many duct tape repairs and the entire silver printing rubbing off the cover from non stop use, we bought him this new Star Wars character guide.Characters run the gamut from episodes 1 - 7. There is even some Rogue One included as Tarkin's photo is a cgi scene from that movie.

Great book. I bought this one and the updated version so my grandson would have one at his house and mine. The pictures and info in this book is amazing. (Saves on answering hundreds of Star Wars questions!) 2016 version is really good but with the release of Mandalorian and other stories, the 2021 version is best.

These books are SO great! Full of pictures, facts, statistics. My 11 year old son collects them, and my dog likes to chew on them when she is lucky enough to find one laying around. Let's just say I have bought all of these types of books at least once, some I've bought about 3 times. :-) They are always worth replacing. My son reads through them over and over.

Another DK must-have book for my Star Wars bookshelf. Note that this is not an entirely new work; it is mostly based on the 2011 edition. There are about 20 more pages in this new edition, but some characters from the 2011 edition do not appear in the new edition. And as you might guess from the cover, any new additions are from The Force Awakens. And as those characters' stories are still being told, their one-page bio here cannot be considered "definitive." But there is still plenty to recommend here, as the book is informative for fans of all interest levels and the layout and photos are up to DK's usual high standards.

I purchased this as a gift for my five year old nephew. It's the only book he wants to look through now. It's definitely tailored toward older readers, but if you have an avid Star Wars fan, it's the perfect gift.

I was so excited to get this in the mail today! At last, an updated character encyclopedia! I have Ultimate Star Wars, which is a great reference, but I was looking forward to having a book that is a bit more user-friendly and just focuses on the characters.Well, this book does focus on the characters, but only the characters from the movies. The live action characters. No entry for Ahsoka Tano! No Kanan Jarrus or Ezra Bridger, no Hera or Cham Syndulla, no Asajj Ventress, no Captain Rex!Given that canon includes not only movie characters, but also those from The Clone Wars and Rebels animated shows, the Marvel Star Wars comics (plus Son of Dathomir), and the recent novels, I find the lack of characters from media other than the films disturbing. It's a serious omission, and makes this book a less valuable information source. I will keep my copy, but I think I will use Ultimate Star Wars plus The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary a lot more than this book. A pity.
