Love these. Much easier to use to filter water (even for human consumption) than the bricks or lose shards that are usually sold. A lot of dust, so be prepared for that, but as long as you watch your boil, you shouldn't have any problems with activation or use!

I’m glad I read the reviews before popping this into my bio filter for my pond. But I’m stubborn & cheap so I had to give them a try. :D I recommend soaking in a small bucket for 24 hours. Rinse . After rinsing I still noticed a lot of black in the water . So I wrapped it up in Poly Quilt Battan , put in a fine mesh bag and then into my filter system. Do not put directly in a pond.

Was dustier then I suspected, but an easy fix with a water rinse. I under estimated the amount I would need for my water filtration so, I ordered more. Have left over for the next change. Will be ordering again. Water feels wonderful again.
