Great product!
I use this primarily with my Panasonic Lumix for saltwater underwater video. Previously, I had one with the flexible spider legs, although the flexible metal was rubber coated, after a week of use it corroded and came apart. The Altura Photo Mini Tripod Stand was used for two weeks and three small screw heads show slight signs of corrosion, it works fine and I believe it will work for me for a couple years being used this way. It's an excellent tripod! The only draw back in my application is that when their is heavy current under the water, it sometimes gets pushed over. I figure any compact tripod will have the same issue. So I don't hold that against the Altura Photo Mini Tripod.I also have a Nikon full sized SLR with a 35-70 zoom lens, so it's heavy. It holds this just fine, of course the Nikon doesn't go under the water.

Great, despite durability
I'm a fan of this product. The good: it's cheap. Very cheap. Easy to take on and off. It's light weight still supports heavy rigs. It's nice to have something low to the ground for some good ground-level perspective. Compact and light. Easily throw in a backpack - or if your jacket has large pockets. :)The bad: It's cheap - you get what you pay for. I don't expect it to last longer than 6 months with the type of outdoor beach/desert photography I do. But, does that bother me? Not in the least. The thing is only $10 after all. I'll get a lot of good uses out of it, then buy another when I need it.Suggestion: Make one with a higher quality plastic and parts that are removeable for cleaning. I'd buy in a heartbeat.

Solid convertible grip/tripod
Purchased before a trip to help with run-n-gun video footage, and was pleased that it doubled as a small tripod as well. Unfortunately, a hairline crack developed almost immediately on the right tripod leg, at the top, where the leg meets the base assembly. This makes it kind of precarious to open the tripod, because pulling on the leg always makes me worried that I might just snap it in half.In all, though, the item as a grip worked exceptionally well, and helped me get some phenomenal photos on the run. I would recommend the product, but I'd suggest you do some thorough testing before you take it on the road, to make sure it doesn't have any breaks or any such issues.

The Real Deal!
I wanted to buy a mini tripod that provided stability and support when I'm on the go. This highly satisfies those needs. It is also good for macro photography. I am currently using for my Canon S100.What's Included- Mini Pistol Grip Tripod by Altura PhotoPros- Holds up to 2.5 lbs- Push lock system to adjust mounting plate at desired position- Nice to the hand, easy grip- In-body stabilization- Anti-slip, rubber feetCons- Tether strap not includedBottom Line: Would buy this again!

Actaully could have been awesome they just spent a couple of pennies more- great ...
Actaully could have been awesome they just spent a couple of pennies more- ok design and sturdy at first use. The big weakness is that after three weeks of useage the pivot piece (very very thin thin plastic) bent and broke off! And this is whrer the camera attaches!!! Thankfully the 1200.00 sony dslr camera (not heavy, half the size of the dslr in the ad photo ) was on my desk and didnt fall on the ground when it snapped. Do not buy

The quality is pathetically low.
Very poor quality here. I put my camera on this stand and angled it correctly, I even tried putting the angle horizontally. In the end, it always ended the same; leaning further down than I set it to. I have owned this stand for a little over a month now. The final reason this is poor quality is the bottom of the feet. They slide very easily. The only thing about this stand that actually held together more than just fine was opening the stand from handheld into a tripod. The reason I say more than fine is because it is a little tougher to open apart than any stand I have ever used before. I am not saying that is horrible, I do somewhat appreciate it but I feel like some would be annoyed that everything else falls apart so easily but the feet can barely open apart from one another. The reason I give this 2 stars instead of 1 star is only because it has not fallen apart and dropped my camera.

Pleasantly surprised!
I have to admit, I didn't have high expectations for this product, but it's great! I love how low it goes and it's sturdy enough to handle my big, side heavy camera! I do jewelry photography for my business and I love that I can use this when my pieces are laid flat. Usually I would have to just hold my camera to get the right angle, but this works perfectly!

Pretty stable unless you use big lenses
Works really well. Just be careful with some really big lenses. It can tip over, but that should be a no brainer when you look at the size of this. It's super portable and perfect for on the go shots when you don't want to carry a tripod around and you have a stable platform. I didn't use it as a pistolgrip like the photo, because I'd rather use both hands to hold my camera.
