Can you leave it plugged in all the time or do you have to unplug it after use?

I leave mines plugged in all the time. The longest I've had it plugged in was a week straight. But I do not unhook the cord from the mat because I have seen reviews of some who took it off after every use and now it's loose and coming out of the mat.
