Yes, there is an alarm. The 6-year-old figured it out quickly. I have no idea what he did. I'd say hand it over to the nearest small child and let the child show you what to do.

Is there a lock on the watch so games are not accessible? I wouldn't want my child playing during school or church.

Yes there is a parental control feature to set the game time limit. You can confirm it in the manual if you google for it. It's funny that vtech don't even realize that "parental control" is like one of the top best selling features for kids smart devices, since they didn't even bother to advertise about this feature on the product page. Their Parental control feature is the only reason why I'm not throwing this gift away.

Can the photos and videos be viewed on the watch, or do they need to be uploaded to computer? Thanks

You can see photos and videos on watch. Only thing is there is limited space on watch, and to take new photos you need to copy them to a computer or delete.
