Anyone catching with these baits?

Been catching white trout, speckled trout, redfish, and flounder. I live in the Panhandle of Florida (Pensacola), and I guess it all depends where you fish and all that.

Do you let them sink and set at the bottom or do you keep lasting and reeling them in ? ( I’m new to artificial bait )

My grandson, who is 8, only casts and reels them in. Giving fishes no chance to hook on - sorry I don't have a more useful reply.
