It seems this device has been around for a while and rightfully so. I have a Celestron Astromaster 114eq and an 8" Sky-Watcher Dobsonian and this works great for both of them. Easy to use and I was able to focus both scopes to perfect detail. I was considering a laser type collimator (I like electronic gadgets) but read that those may need periodic collimating also - that seems kind of strange to me. I'm not sure how you would do that. Anyway, this unit is simple to use and effective.

I was of mixed opinion whether to buy a laser collimator. However, after using this collimator to collimate my 10" Dob I found that the images seen are now more crisp and in finer detail. The first thing I did after receiving the item was to check that is was collimated correctly and it was good to see that I did not have to adjust it. Would buy again.

Quality is good. The wires that form the X on mine were about a 1mm off center, but you can try bending, although im hesitant to do so, afraid of breaking them off. But most importantly, it does what supposed is supposed to do, which is to center the secondary in the focuser, collimate the tilt of secondary and primary. If this is your first collimation device, then this is what you need. Dont buy a laser first, youll mess up more than fix your accuracy.
