I had purchased one of these bots a few weeks ago but needed to buy a second so we could battle. The second one which is witch doctor arrived on time but the batteries were completely dead on the bot and control. It would be nice if Amazon could replace them, these bots are expensive.

It works, although it needs a receiver

my kiddos(big and small) love this toy!! they have played with it for hours and hours. none of the issues that others have mentioned. i watched to pro tips video on you tube and it taught me the correct way to pair them to the remotes-so no issue there either!! Will be purchasing the other robots and the arena for christmas!! His weapon stopped spinning but was an easy fix. These guys are easy to take apart and trouble shoot. We took the smaller pieces and put them away unless we are all paying attention LOL they were lost(and found) the first battle!!

Bring out the child in you and get these bots by this company. Very well made and responsive to control. Only caveat is you cannot turn off the remote controller to save the button battery power. The bot can be turned off/on but by a button so once you push it try the remote and if it doesn't respond, it is off. Also - when received the button batteries were bad in the remote and had started to leak. Fortunately they did no harm and new batteries worked.
