her little snippets and take on life are like unrelated little emails from someone I know and like
Some people just have a way of revealing themselves to you through the written word, and wow, THAT'S why I read, and THAT'S why I adore this book.If I weren't already fully bonded with the author, her little snippets and take on life are like unrelated little emails from someone I know and like. There's an honesty and a quirkyness that comes through in her writing. She also is just someone who obviously has a personal commitment to being a force of kindness and strength on the planet, and that, too, makes for someone I like to listen to, whose life I naturally want to care about. So I spend the length of the book caring about whether she gets enough good sleep on a cross-country flight, caring about the new appliance recently bought at Home Depot, and definitely caring about her work, her health and her relationship through all the crazy rollercoasters those areas of life wind up being (for her and everyone else). So, I pretty much will read anything this woman writes. Who wouldn't! Score one for the Canadians.

Loved it!!
I have always loved Ivan's writing. The way they capture little moments, and make them into Compelling stories is a gift. I will recommend their books to anyone, and The Slow Fix is no different. Definitely five stars!!

Excellent
Ivan Coyote writes with sensitivity and humor about everyday life. Ivan is one of my favorite authors, it is wonderful to have a queer voice that is accessible to the straight community.

Unique collection of stories by one-of-a-kind author
Imagine a GLBT-centric, Northern Canada version of "Prairie Home Companion" ... homespun, positive yet occasionally wickedly sarcastic stories that can be read individually, but which also combine to give the reader a clear insight into the author's life and opinions. That is what gender-bending writer/storyteller Ivan E. Coyote has done to perfection in her regular columns in the Vancouver gay publication "Xtra West" and in several award-winning story compilations and a novel. This was my first exposure to her work, and I was immediately drawn to her honest, well-written stories. Her stories are universally appealing, although GLBT people can best relate to her comments (such as having painful "high school flashbacks" when asked to talk to a class about her work, and a brilliant analogy about not fitting into a pair of boots). I absolutely will read more of her work. Five snowcapped stars out of five!

Hits to the Heart
Ivan E. Coyote is my new favorite author. Her work is simply moving. In each short story we see a different piece of her heart and a new adventure. We're taking a peek into her life experiences that have molded her into who she is today. And her descriptions of Canada make me want to take a trip there, even though I hate cold weather.I'd seriously recommend this book.
