One of the reasons why I passed the RICA on the first try
This book is the one of the reasons I passed all the RICA subtests on the first try!The different competencies are well explained and give you so many ideas and explain every definition that might be on the test. I took the RICA out of order. I started with subtest 2, then took subtest 1, and lastly took subtest 3. I read the specific the content and competencies for the specific test I was taking. As I read it, I would highlight and write notes on the side. Afterwards, I looked up RICA subtest videos on YouTube to learn more info. I specifically watched all the RICA studying videos from @Distanceprep on youtube. This guy is a professor and teaches the viewers the different competencies. He is thorough and amazing! This is the order on how I studied: I studied for about a week before each subtest- read, highlighted, and wrote notes in this book and then watched the @Distanceprep videos for the specific subtest I was going to take. I took lots of notes on my iPad while watching. To me, the RICA is way easier than the CSETa and you can definitely pass it! Goodluck whoever is taking it :)

Great study tool
If your professors don't recommend getting this book to help study for the RICA, don't listen to them; my professors recommended this book to me and I'm so glad I got it because it helped SO MUCH! It prepared me for the RICA. I took the first 2 subtests (70 MC + 4 short answers) on one day and the 3rd subtest (25 MC + 1 Case Study) on the next and on both days I went in not having as much text anxiety as I usually have. I made flashcards to go with the book and use the website teacherstestprep.com for practice tests. I felt so good taking those practice tests compared to other websites because of this book! James Zarrillo does an amazing job explaining things and providing examples, and the chapter discussing the case study is super helpful. This book is a necessity if you are planning on taking the RICA but don't know where to start.

Very helpful
I bought this book because a lot of YouTube videos that I watched would reference this book. It was helpful but I had to read and highlight multiple times. Honesty what helped me pass the test is taking a course online. It would help if this book was more updated.

Very helpful.
I passed the RICA on my first try! I did all 3 sub tests at one time and this book was super helpful! This book explains the test structure and gives test tips along with what type of info will be on the test. The only thing I didn’t like was that there is no practice test in this book. The book refers you to the test website to access a practice test. Overall, great info, very organized. I went through this book multiple times over the course of 2 weeks. Worth every penny.

Get this !
I passed the rica subtest 1 on my first try and i only used this book and quizlet to study the terms . I agree with other reviews that this is the only thing you need to pass! You won’t regret it . I will add if you get the e-book . You get access to some videos . If you purchase the paperback you have no link or access to those videos but I still passed without them.
