better than overhead lamp
Sooo glad i replaced my standard overhead heat lamp - of which the bulb burned out and i lost 3 chicks in the chill..!..This 'Brood Hen' is Safer, and offered just the right Temperature for my remaining 5 chicks to nestle underneath.They loved to stay on the surface as they grew larger - even tho i raised it with the easy to adjust legs for them to fit beneath.i recommend this 100% as a safe and perfectly functioning chick brooder.

Good even temperature
We bought 2, used both across multiple hatches. Temps are great, chicks are happy, easy to clean. We are happy.

Works great with happy chicks.
There's no temp control, but so far it has worked great. If the chicks don't need heat then they just don't get under it. Make sure you also buy the anti roost cone cover for the top, because they love to sit on it during the day and you will be cleaning droppings off of it daily without one.
