W. W. Norton & Company The Overstory: A Novel

Beautifully told story
I have only read two of the short stories in this novel, and already I can see why it has won awards. Beautifully told of lives in small but important moments, dreams and reality told with an unapologetic eye and an open heart.

A book of our times
The individual stories are told in the rings of the trees , slowly link up and show how tiny our own lives are in the great living earth world.

Worthy of a Pulitzer
Well, what a book. I could not put it down. So well crafted, the characters woven into each other like magic. I loved each and every one of them, and so enjoyed their individual life stories. This was a book that made me stop and think, and look at nature and trees in a very different way. And, perhaps more importantly - for me - look at people in a different light. This won't be my last Richard Powers book, not by a long chalk.

Herausragender Roman-
spannend, superklug, interessant, historisch Wahres inside the Story und tolle Figuren, wirklichtoll- der Titel passt nicht, da er - im absoluten Widerpspruch zum tollen Roman- eckig und langweilig klingt...

The best book I have ever read
Every line is poetry, yes, as one person noted, one often has to reread a line or a paragraph because of its beauty. I have not finished it yet. I cannot put it down. It is about everything not just trees, but I love trees. It is often about the cruelty and ignorance of humanity. The stories are so touching and unexpected. Thank you for writing this stunning book.
