Perfect soft boiled eggs every time!
This works like a charm. I smear butter in the cups for extra tasty eggs.1) Bring half inch of water to boil in small fry pan.2) Smear butter in cups and crack eggs into them.3) Use fork as a handle (see video in listing) and set tray in boiling water. Eggs will stay dry above the water.4) Tightly cover with lid (glass preferred for easy viewing). See note.5) Set timer to 3 min. (you'll adjust your timing with practice).6) Remove tray using fork and tip out eggs. They should slide out easily. I like to tip a soft boiled egg onto buttered toast.Note: The key is to have a tight fitting lid. If the lid has a vent hole, plug it. Or buy a lid that has a rubber rim specially designed for trapping steam. If the lid is not hot to your touch, something is wrong: either the water is not boiling hard enough or the lid is leaking too much steam. You need hot steam trapped above the eggs. Some reviewers say the cups are too small, but I have used with many brands of eggs and large eggs always fit nicely for me. Some say the eggs stick, but if you coat the cups generously with oil, cooking spray, or butter (my favorite), the eggs won't stick. This is an awesome little kitchen tool that will deliver perfect soft boiled eggs every time.

Works for me!
Does just what it says, poaches or bastes. I use with lid on and less water in a shallow pan. Recommends that you use a little oil, and I do as eggs can stick a little. If you prefer not to, a small spatula can easily help remove the egg from the cup.

Makes poached eggs that are better than in a microwave
This is the second or third one of these that I have owed. If it’s like the others, it’s going to make eggs that are tasty every time. The insert is very easy to use. But I did find it necessary to coat it with a little real butter. My sister has one, and she coats hers with a dab of olive oil. I wish they made a similar insert with two larger egg cups to add goodies to each egg. I add herbs and seasoning now. But with larger cups - you could add just a taste of finely diced fresh veggies or meat if you like.

Nonstick coating failed, cups are too small
The nonstick coating started flaking off after four months of daily use. I used a silicone spatula to lift the eggs out of the cups, so this was not done by a metal utensil. Also, the cups are too small for a jumbo egg. Some of the egg white will spill out. Even some extra-large eggs are too big for the cups. I'm replacing this item after four months. Save your money and buy a better poacher.

Simple and effective egg poacher
This is a simple but very effective egg poacher. I use a little olive oil to coat the inside of each cup to prevent sticking and the eggs slide right out. Each cup fits a 'large' egg the best. Any bigger and it may spill over the sides. I've used one exactly like this for many years until the non-stick coating began to wear away in a couple of spots. I liked it so much that I re-ordered the same one. I am very happy with this purchase.Update: It's now 4/19/20 and I'm updating my review. As I wrote, after many uses and cycles in the dishwasher, we noticed a little rust on some of the egg cups, so it was time to discard the poacher and move on to a replacement. For the relatively inexpensive price this particular poacher costs, and for the perfect poached eggs it makes, my husband wanted me to buy the same one again. My one issue with the poacher is that it only makes 3 eggs at a time. My husband and daughter are the poached egg lovers in the house and they each like 2 eggs, so the math doesn't work for the same breakfast unless I use 2 poachers. For that reason, I decided to check out other options on Amazon. However, after reading reviews for other poachers, I've concluded that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I'm going with my husbands suggestion to re-order and will buy 2 of them if I need to make more than three eggs at a time.Several suggestions I didn't mention in my original review that might be helpful..........1. Just a reminder..........that I did mention.........use some kind of fat (oil or butter) to coat the cups. That seemsto be important for most egg poachers. You don't have to use a lot.2. Placed the poacher, without the eggs, into a pan with about 1/2 - 3/4 in. of water.3. 'Carefully' crack the eggs into each cup. If any of the eggs leaks into the water, once the cover is on, the waterwill boil up over the eggs. Still good, but not my favorite outcome. That is the reason I suggested NOT to useany eggs bigger than 'LARGE'.4. I use a pan with a glass lid so I can watch the process. With the cover OFF, bring the water to a boil and thenput the cover on.5. Using a timer:From my experience, cooking time varies between 3 minutes - 3 minutes 20 seconds. My husband and daughter prefer runnier eggs, so I usually go with about 3 min. + 5 or 10 sec.s at most.6. Remove the cover, put a fork in one of the oval holes to lift up the poacher with the eggs still inside.I hold the poacher with a paper towel and use a non-abrasive spatula to nudge the eggs right onto the toast. The best thing about this poacher is how consistent the eggs turn out!

Great for poached eggs
Great pan for poached eggs. I boil the water first, then put the eggs in with a lid on for about 6mins. Perfect eggs every time. I wish the pan was a little deeper so I could add other stuff like cheese etc. but it just barely holds an egg in each section.
