Whoa, don't compare apples and oranges
This cannot be compared with rigid bamboo non-collapsible full-loaf slicing guards. Nor can its price. If you bake your own bread and want to slice as needed, and not the whole loaf all at once, this unit is excellent. Not only can you do the job quite well with it, but takes up little room in the cabinet whether you disassemble it each time or leave it assembled and those were my only criteria which is why I'm pointing out it's suitability for specifically that.I do use a bread machine, but only for the dough cycle because I strongly prefer traditional size and shape loaves without any paddle holes in the middle of them. (It's very little extra trouble and super worth it.)Operationally, this unit works very well with a serrated bread knife, sawing back and forth evenly and gently, letting the knife rather than pressure slice the bread. When you get to the bottom, tilt your knife blade downward and scrape rather than cut the final division. Also, the slat openings are big enough so that you should rest your knife blade against one side or the other throughout the whole slice. Doing that, I get perfectly even, straight slices with no waves in them. I do remove each slice, cutting them one at a time. But this gives me solid control with no shifting. As for needing three hands, I position my thumb over one slat, my forefinger over the bread loaf and the rest of my fingers over the opposite side slat, and just hold everything steady.I personally love this little unit and as long as you don't treat it roughly, it should hold up fine.Another tip, my bread keeps extremely fresh, unwrapped, in a "Lock & Lock" container which is pretty darned airtight. Way more fresh than in any plastic bag I ever tried including those you buy. It actually retains the smell of a freshly-baked loaf and does not seem to mold any faster either.

Small and very flimsy and unstable.
Complete waste of money. It is so flimsy you can't cut a good slice of bread. It moves all over the place and I wound up with uneven slices. This thing is small, tiny to where my 2lb bread loaf was hanging off it. It is not for bread slicing that's for sure. I wouldn't use it to slice anything. Skip it. You get what you pay for.

On the fence
Is good for uniform slices. Too short to hold the loaf. No adjustments ot sides to hold the loaf properly. As I said, if you can hold the loaf in place, you will get uniform slices. I guess I just expected more.

Ok
It's not too bad. The only thing that is worth mentioning, it's flimsy and you need to keep guiding the knife when you cut, because without doing that, the cuts are very uneven.

The guides are very flimsy, and the sides aren’t secure.
I returned this item. It wasn’t very sturdy. When you sliced your bread, the guides were flimsy, which made it difficult. Also, the sides don’t feel secure, when pressed in their slots. I was worried I would break one of the guides, if I pressed very hard, but it didn’t fit in the slot well anyway.I’ve had a bread cutting guide before, and it was much stronger and nicer than this. (It wasn’t a fancy one either!) I don’t think this guide would last very long.In addition, the description says “Adjustable…” Generally, adjustable guides have more than one width option for different types of bread, but this one only had one width, that I saw, so I’m not sure what it meant by “adjustable.” I didn’t have any instructions with mine, but the box doesn’t say “adjustable.”The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because it does have a nice, inexpensive (cheap 😉) price. It also becomes very compact, when taken apart for storage. As a possibility, you might glue the sides to the base, so they fit more securely, though the guides will still be flimsy. Therefore, carefully, slowly slice your bread, and it could work. However, there are better options available. 😉

Bread slicer
If you want a sturdy bread slicer, this is not the one for you. It does not hold together very well when you are slicing your bread and therefore you get uneven slices cheap is as cheap does would not recommend.
