Sportline Talking calorie counter pedometer

This seemed to work like my old one I had however after a couple of weeks use it seems to go blank after it reaches 1000 steps and sometimes before. Have tried a new battery without success in it working as it should, What now??? Originally thought it was worth 4 stars now I feel like it was defective as my previous one lasted a few years with no trouble at all. Looks like a waste of money and more than double the price of my old one.. Maybe in shipping something was disturbed as previous one was purchased locally.
