Grinning Gargoyle LED Desk Light - 2,200 Lumens with Dimmer - Adjustable Lamp - Perfect Painting Light - Includes Clamp & Swing Arm

Looked at plenty of these before buying this one. Some look great but it's all about colour temperature & lumens output. The claimed wattages of some 5v USB-powered lamps has to be fanciful because the 2amp USB adaptor supplied would need to be pulling in excess of 4amps. With this one, it has a 27v mains adaptor to drive 24w of LED's, so about 1.1amps which is more realistic. Each of the 117 SMD LED's are only being driven at 205mA so they should last a very long time. The light unit hardly gets warm in use which is also a good indication that the LED's are being driven lightly. The light output & temperature for watchmaking/jewellery making is perfect. The mechanism allows adjustment to prevent glare & the diffuser does an excellent job of spreading the light & avoiding shadows. The single on/off button allowing the 4 brightness levels seemed a bit of a pita to cycle through high/med-high/med-low/low to get the desired level each time, & this has drawn criticism from other reviewers, but with a bit of experimentation (it says nothing about this feature in the instructions) once you are happy with the light level, a quick double tap of the button turns it off & then a single tap turns it back on at the previous level. Much easier. If you don't mind a black gargoyle logo staring back at you, buy this & feel happy that you've got a decent quality hobby lamp at a price that easily beats the competition.

I have been using this this hobby light for about 2 weeks now and it is perfect for my needs. I paint Warhammer miniatures and needed good 6000K light. This ticks all the boxes, it is bright and flicker free. Although it doesn't dim as smoothly as some of the more expensive brands and you can not change the colour warmth, the simple click to dim / double click to turn off makes it very easy to use and nothing fancy to go wrong. The clamp to attach it to the desk is sturdy and there is plenty of flexibility in both the arm and the light head to make sure you can light even the hardest to reach recesses. 100% recommended

I had to make my own fixture for the piano as there is nowhere to use the clamp provided. But once installed it is ideal with the ability to adjust the brilliance to your own comfort.

Very, very bright light. Good clamp and the arm is flexible, although it doesn't feel all that robustly made but it seems to work OK. Depending on your use, it might be annoying that you have to go through all the brightness levels to get to the one you want every time you turn it on, but it's only a minor thing and otherwise I am very happy with it's brightness.

Quality made a great bedroom table lamp I fire it at the ceiling keeps the winter blues at bay I have another as a crafting lamp ..well priced at 75 quid.

My dads eyesight is fading, such a brilliant item for him . I surprised how good it is .

Decent build quality, good light level and adjustability NB Screw clamp mechanism requires attachment to top and bottom of workbench. Had to modify because my workbench is glued to the cabinet underneath.
