Compact and Powerful—An Excellent Choice for a Home Office Setup
**Dell OptiPlex 7050 Micro Computer, Intel Quad Core i5-6500T** **Compact and Powerful—An Excellent Choice for a Home Office Setup** I recently upgraded my home office with the Dell OptiPlex 7050 Micro Computer, and it has been an outstanding addition to my workspace. This compact yet powerful machine handles all of my daily tasks with ease, making it perfect for anyone needing a reliable and efficient computer for work or personal use. **What I Liked:** - **Compact Design**: The first thing that stands out about the Dell OptiPlex 7050 is its incredibly compact size. It takes up minimal space on my desk, which is a big plus in a home office where space can be limited. Despite its small footprint, it doesn’t compromise on performance, making it a great option for those who need to maximize their workspace. - **Strong Performance**: Powered by an Intel Quad Core i5-6500T processor with speeds up to 3.1GHz, this micro computer delivers excellent performance for everyday tasks. Whether I’m multitasking with multiple applications, browsing the web, or handling office work, the system runs smoothly and efficiently. The 16GB of DDR4 RAM ensures that everything runs quickly and without lag, even when working with demanding software. - **Fast SSD Storage**: The 256GB SSD provides fast boot times and quick access to files and programs. I noticed a significant improvement in overall system responsiveness compared to my previous setup. The SSD is also more reliable and durable than traditional hard drives, adding to the longevity of the computer. - **Windows 10 Pro**: The inclusion of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is a great feature, offering enhanced security and administrative features that are ideal for a professional environment. The multi-language support (English/Spanish/French) adds flexibility, especially if you work in a multilingual setting or need to switch between languages. - **Easy Setup and Connectivity**: Setting up the Dell OptiPlex 7050 was quick and straightforward. It comes with all the necessary ports, including USB 3.0, HDMI, DisplayPort, and Ethernet, making it easy to connect to peripherals like monitors, printers, and external storage devices. The built-in Wi-Fi also ensures that I stay connected without needing extra adapters. - **Renewed, But Like New**: I was initially hesitant about purchasing a renewed product, but the OptiPlex 7050 exceeded my expectations. The computer arrived in excellent condition, with no visible wear or signs of previous use. It functions just like a brand-new machine, offering great value for a fraction of the cost. **What I Didn’t Like:** - **Limited Internal Storage**: While the 256GB SSD is fast and reliable, it might be on the smaller side for those who need to store a large amount of data or run multiple large programs. However, this can easily be mitigated by using external storage or cloud solutions. For most home office tasks, though, the storage capacity should be sufficient. - **No Dedicated Graphics**: The computer uses integrated Intel HD Graphics, which are fine for general office work, web browsing, and video streaming. However, if you need to perform graphics-intensive tasks like video editing or gaming, this system might not be the best choice. That said, for typical office use, the integrated graphics perform adequately. - **Basic Accessories**: The computer doesn’t come with a keyboard, mouse, or monitor, so you’ll need to have or purchase those separately. While this isn’t unusual for a desktop setup, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re starting from scratch. However, this also allows you to choose accessories that best fit your needs and preferences. **Bottom Line:** The Dell OptiPlex 7050 Micro Computer is a compact, powerful, and reliable option for any home office setup. Its strong performance, fast SSD storage, and efficient multitasking capabilities make it an excellent choice for professionals who need a dependable computer for daily tasks. While the internal storage and graphics capabilities might be limiting for some specialized uses, the overall value and functionality of this renewed system are hard to beat. If you’re looking for a space-saving, high-performing computer that handles typical office work with ease, the Dell OptiPlex 7050 is a fantastic choice. I’ve been very satisfied with its performance in my home office, and it has made my workday much more efficient and enjoyable!

Great value, minor flaws, TV streaming with HDMI and DisplayPort connectivity
Mine arrived in excellent packaging with a generic wired keyboard, mouse, and USB 2.0 "n" network dongle. It didn't have the internal wireless system. Not ideal but works just fine. There was some damage to the finish on the housing at the back where it wasn't noticeable. It was covered up with some black permanent marker. Also, at this price point, not unexpected for a refurbished item. I'm using mine as a media station at my 4K TV. I was disappointed at how noisy the fan was but went into the power settings and found that limiting CPU to 70% and changing cooling scheme from Active to Passive in the Windows power settings makes it effectively silent. Even at 70% it has way more CPU performance than the laptop it replaced and has no problem processing video at 4k and the cheap WiFi works just fine for streaming 4k video. The HDMI passes audio through my TV to my 5.1 receiver just fine making for fantastic sound. Paired with an Air Mouse remote control https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DXFPSSSK it's just about perfect for a home media and internet surfing setup. I went from 3 remotes with my Roku to just 1 and ditched the ads while gaining the ability to surf in a real browser. It uses a SATA SSD and has a free M.2 SSD slot and a free M.2 WiFi slot if you wanted to upgrade or ditch the dongle and use something more modern with an external antenna. I get full bars and it's plenty of storage for me, so I probably won't bother with upgrading anything. Over-all I'm extremely happy with my purchase. If it were more expensive, I might knock it down to 4 stars, but for this price you can't ask for much more.

I guess size really DOESN'T matter! Who knew?
I love my tiny new computer! It's about the size of a book so I can pop it in my luggage on a trip and have my PC with me! Connected it to a 24" TV I got for $10 at Goodwill and it drives like a dream!

Not refurbed, reboxed. Broken, dirty and wrong power supply.
Update: I received a replacement and it is in much better shape. Still cheap 100mb wireless n usb. This one is much cleaner and has the correct power supply. Another thing I forgot to mention was packing. The box is twice as wide as the insert to hold the machine, so it and the power supply are surely smashed around inside the box as neither was in the padding upon arrival. I'll keep this one as it runs, but this experience has me questioning Amazon Certified Refurbs. Very poor refurb. Looks like it was just reboxed and nothing of refurbishing occurred. The video port didn't work, the case was sticky and the case screw looked like it was rusted or had coffee poured on it. Being an IT guy, I opened the case and was shocked. The board was broken and was covered in dust. And it was loose dust that could have been blown out, but wasn't. The video port cable was broken off the board and just hanging. The power supply was the wrong one, under powered and it had a dongle adapter to make it fit. But even worse, the DC plug was bent out of the jacket and definitely a fire hazard. There was no on board wifi, but they included a 20yo technology N usb wireless adapter. I'm not sure who is remanufacturing these, but it's time to find another company because they are not doing anything but maybe wiping them off and reboxing. Not even qualified to include the right power supply. I've purchased many refurbs before from Amazon, but this by far was the worst. No QC at all.

Great little computer, and cheap.
When I received the computer, I found it to be in very good condition, nearly brand new. The SSD was upgradable, and I was able to upgrade it without any issues. The size is perfect, and the computer operates very quietly, at least until I put a load on it. When that happens, the fan kicks in, but it remains quieter compared to my main computer. I am currently using it as part of my home network as a server.

Great for office uses, but not all resellers are equal.
For those considering this machine, please read carefully. I selected a reseller with a price higher than the lowest offered. Why? Because at the time of my selection, the lowest price seller had 71% satisfaction rating, but for $6 more I selected another seller with a 90% satisfaction rating (TekRefurbs.com). This is especially important with a renewed computer! Many reviews reflect problems due to the differences in resellers, so it pays to select carefully. The first thing I did on receiving the computer was open the case and remove the new 256 GB ssd, and install a 1 TB nvme ssd into the m.2 socket, and a 2 TB ssd into the hard drive caddy and reinstalled the caddy and closed the case. The computer was spotless inside and out. The next step is very important. I went to the Dell website and downloaded the BIOS update. I run linux on a multi boot system, but linux cannot install the new bios so I booted into windows for the bios update. Just follow the on screen instructions and the update takes just a few minutes. It is crucial to update the bios as the machine is vulnerable until it is done. The machcine is capable of running Windows 11, but apparently the Windows 10 Pro that comes with the computer will not allow updating. Since I did not install Windows 10, but moved my existing drives into the computer, I was all set with Windows 11. Many users prefer Windows 10. I recommend before buying or receiving the computer that the user/owner manual in pdf format be downloaded from the dell site as it is really mandatory if you are going to get your newly renewed machine set up properly. Curiously this computer will run with either the 65 watt or the 130 watt power supply cord; mine came with the 65 watt power supply and it works flawlessy. There are also two other m.2 sockets on the motherboard for WLAN and WWAN cards as shown in the manual for those who want or need them. The cards and cables and antenna are available on Amazon. I hope this information is useful to any who take time to read it. The machines are not for gamers as they do not have the graphics horsepower for that use, but are great for other applications if you choose the reseller carefully. It is a shame the machines suffer less than stellar ratings due to the disparities between reseller preparations. Choose wisely and you will be rewarded.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this tiny computer!
The machine arrived in great condition and fired right up. The first thing I did was create a dual boot for LINUX and windows. They even included a WiFi dongle to get by with until I could install a card internally. I have the larger 7050 desktop tower version, and my first thought was that this would not perform exactly the same as its larger sibling, but this thing is every bit as good! I quickly upgraded the processor and memory and now have a great machine that I can place below the desk on a side shelf, giving me back the top of my desk for the other things I use. This thing sips power like a squirrel, making almost no noise and just running happily as I game away. Even in its stock configuration, the 16GB of memory will play most mid-range games with little concern. Still upgraded it to 32GB just to get it to the best it could be. Still, the stock memory capacity is more than enough for general use, lending itself to more demanding tasks. The other thing I really love is the sturdy, all metal construction of the chassis. You can actually place a fair amount of stuff on it and not worry about cracking or breaking something. I've done this, but not for super long. I mean, showing this thing off is kinda neat. People cant believe that a computer this small can do what it does. :)
