Good, but with not without its niggles...
At the moment, I'm giving this stand 4 stars instead of 5 - it's a good stand but there are a couple of niggles which would have to be ironed out before I could give it 5 out of 5...The stand itself is a 3 stage stand with three legs forming the base. the stand that I got through was black, and not chrome, but that doesn't worry me. Upon taking delivery, I tore the delivery bag that it came in open and wanted to assemble it immediately - but the bolt that holds the cradle to the stand seemed to be missing. (The plastic-bodied wing nut was there, but not the bolt) It wasn't in the box either, and I eventually found it in the delivery bag - it must have fallen through an opening in the box itself. That really ought to be addressed by K&M - the small parts should be in a sealed bag so that there's no chance of them getting lost. The tripod legs spread to form a triangle that's about 2 feet wide, so it seems as if it will be stable enough. The angle that the stand holds the guitar can be altered, and that's done by loosening the wing nut already mentioned above, tilting the guitar and tightening the wing nut back up. The cradle can also be tilted backwards to suit the player, although I found that the Allen bolt to do that had to be tightened up quite considerably - Allen key included. There is a grip washer there, but whether it's man enough for the job remains to be seen...The cradle itself is more than capable of holding a guitar as deep as an Epi J200, and I found that the easiest way to mount the guitar was to fit the cradle and then attach the whole thing to the stand. The problem with that is that the bolt will come out as soon as you try to attach the wing nut to it - not really ideal. Easiest workaround is to tape the bolt to the stand itself. So far, that seems to have done the job quite well.Overall, I think the stand is good - I'm not too sure it's worth the asking price, but seeing as your other options are a Gracie (RRP is 300 dollars and I don't know if they're available in the UK) or an MBrace (which might mean drilling holes for strap buttons in your guitar and buying a decent mic stand, and I don't know if it tilts backwards), your hands are pretty much tied. I'm looking forward to using it in a gig situation, and despite my few little gripes, it does seem sturdy enough and is fairly well-built.
