Best helmet!
My husband and i bought this for our 4 year old for Christmas - I love how easy it is to adjust and the color is so bright I can see him easily when he's riding his bike on the street or at the park. The helmet actually fit on his head and protects his forehead and all sides which we've had a hard time finding. We tried on every helmet at Target, Toys R Us, and Walmart and he would scream every-time because he said it hurt - he put this one on and immediately loved it. I appreciate how easy the straps are to adjust and the back nob is there to make the internal bands tighten around his head. My husband researched for weeks to find "the best helmet" and I'm so glad we picked this one! Thank you for making such a great product that my son actually enjoys wearing, we're getting one for my 2 year old next week!

Safety first
This is our second Giro Scamp Cycling Helmet for our daughter. She loved her first so much that when she grew out of it she wanted to just get the same one but bigger. The helmet fits well, is easy to adjust, and stays secure. The helmet must be comfortable, because she never complains about wearing it, even on long rides in her bike trailer.

Great helmet for my 11 month old son, but straps need adjusting
Great lightweight helmet for my 11 month old son! I originally purchased a bell bike helmet that was too big and did not adjust , so I read up on several adjustable bike helmets and ultimately decided on this one. So far I am very happy with the helmet. My son is in the 40-50th percentile range for head size (~18 inches) and the XS still has some room for him to grow. The dial in the back is very easy to adjust, even when my son is wearing it. The helmet is also very light and doesn't hinder his ability to romp around at all. The only issue I have with it is the chin straps are very long and really annoyed him. Based on another reviewer's suggestion, I pried out the black plug in the back with a flat head screwdriver and was able to even out the straps so they don't bother him quite as much. Overall, I am very happy with this puchase and would only knock my rating down to 4.5 stars based on the straps, but since I found out you can adjust them somewhat I am giving 5 stars.

Perfect fit for my son
My son needed a helmet and we did a lot of research on which would be the best and not cost us an arm and a leg. We found this and decided to give it a shot. It was perfect. It fit him great, it's light weight, looks good, and he doesn't fuss about it. Definitely recommend this.

Nice helmet, two clear size options
After researching and trying a couple options, I chose this helmet because:1. It appears to be good quality and have good coverage (back, sides, forehead). I do not know for a fact that it is safer than a cheap brand, but I feel better about putting the Little in a respectable cyclist brand.2. The back is "flat" (as opposed to oblong like adult helmets), making it easier for the Little to sit back in the bike trailer. Of course, it still sticks out an inch or more on the back of his head, but that cannot really be avoided if you want protection.3. It has clear size options. My first choice was the Lazer Bob, but I heard complaints about them running small. The Giro Scamp XS is clearly marked 46-49 cm and the S is clearly marked 49-53 cm (note that this differs slightly from the generic size chart on Giro's website, but the individual product pages are correct). The Little's head is 48 cm, a bit above the 50% line for 16 months old, so I bought and tried both. Not surprisingly, the XS is a better fit, especially the straps. However, the S is adequately adjustable; it could even go a tiny bit tighter than his 48-cm coconut. Since he is already near the upper limit of the XS, I elected to keep the S instead, which should last him several years.--- Update (24 August 2016) ---The Little has been using this helmet 2-4 times a week for about five months on the YBIKE Pewi and/or riding in the bike trailer. So far, so good. After the first couple outings, the Little got used to wearing it and now often forgets that he even has it on. The GIRO lettering is starting to peel and the helmet has developed some minor scuffs from the concrete (more from the Little dragging it around in hand than from actual falls), but the helmet and straps are solid as ever. I have noticed that it tends to slide back on him sometimes, which I attribute to him still being on the very small end of the fit range of the S.

I've owned many bike helmets over the last 35 years from BMX full face to cheaper road/mtb helmets to high-end racers and I can tell you with some degree of experience that this is a fantastic helmet. It's got all the features of a high-end adult helmet. Light, ventilated and with a dial "rok lock" style adjustment knob in the back... Plus it looks cute as hell on my daughter! We had a lot of trouble finding one that was small enough for her head at 1 year old. BTW, she was in the 85th percentile for head circumference and ALL of the other helmets that were labeled 1+ years were WAAAAY too big. This is the only one that fit and that is after consulting with Giro and Bell (same parent company). My daughter decided to test it out by falling backwards on a hard tiled surface and hitting the back of the helmet hard... She looked at me like she was about to cry, but then realized it didn't hurt, LOL!Anyway, she loves the helmet and is stoked to put it on, because that means riding with Daddy time!!!

Love and Trust Giro helmets
We have Giro helmets for both our 2 year old and almost 4 year old. These are very well made and I feel more comfortable that my kids are protected. These have a small adjustable know in the back by the neck to tighten the helmet after its on which is convenient. We love the print of the purple flowers for our daughter. She smiles so big and loves her big girl bike helmet.
