Katie and the Waterlily Pond

This is a very well done series. I am from Europe and I was looking for books in order to prepare my at that time 2 year old boy to art museums. I tried this and since then we have purchased all the Katie's artistic adventure books. My child loves reading them together. He has also brought them to pre-K and his Montessori teacher has asked me to bring them all. I will highly recommend all of them. PS my child in now 5 and a half and he has been with me visiting a dozen of museums (from Picasso to Bruegel and Titian.

We love these LIVING BOOKS for art and art history! Not only will children be able to recognize artists and art styles but actual works of these great artists after reading these books again and again!

This short picture book tells how the little girl Katie learns about Impressionism and the works of Claude Monet as she literally jumps into several of his paintings. It is a great introduction for children to the artist and his techniques.

I love the way she interacts with art in this series. This makes the paintings seem more accessible and captivating for a child to be able to imagine that you can "crawl into" the paintings.

I am a preschool teacher and we had done a unit on famous artist. This book was perfect for that! Every child sat and listened to the book. They were definitely entertained and it didn't bore them a bit.

As a college art and humanities teacher, I cannot tell you how much I love these books. They're charming and a great way to introduce young people to fine art. My niece adores this series, and I love taking her to museums so we can look for "Katie paintings" in the galleries.

These books are just the best way to introduce youngsters to the artists. My grandchildren are somewhat familiar with VanGogh, Degas, and Monet. I found these books on Amazon and they can identify pictures in magazines, in my home, their home, etc. They love it that Katie gets to talk to the artist. I highly recommend these books!

Katie collection by James Mayhew is worth to keep in your shelf for your kids. It’s Katie’s adventure to the museum, meeting a lot of painting characters and also their painter. I found the price of this book is cheaper from Amazon than the other websites.

Book arrived as promised by Amazon. Had great fun using the book with a class of 10 and 11 year-olds during our art lessons and project on Monet. Well-written and beautifully presented.

This was our 7th book from Katie's collection. It is always a thrill to find out what new situation Katie will go through. I find specially enchanting how James Mayhew finds ways to capture the kids attention and, at the same time, present master pieces of art in a playful and involving way. My kid loves those histories and with almost four years old already distinguishes the paintings he remember from the books.

Una maravilla, al igual que el resto de cuentos que tenemos de esta serie. Nuestra hija es gran fan de Katie, y nos sirven para trabajar historia del arte y hacer actividades enfocadas a trabajar algún autor/cuadro. Son una maravilla.

My favourite of these books. Definitely the most beautiful and light hearted. Top quality!
