I'll start out with my review of this respirator. It seals very well on my face, it's well made, air flow is VERY good, I don't like the battery, Its a NI CAD and heavy. I had to wear a coat and put the battery in the coat pocket. Can't say how long the battery last because I'm still waiting for the charger to be delivered. So the following is why I was willing to pay $650 (after adding the $105 for the battery charger)If you have a narrow nose bridge like I do, non of the disposable filter masks work and working in a dusty environment you need a respirator that seals well. I've have found even the rubber masks when I take them off have been leaking. My face under the mask will be all dirty from the dust. I've considered the full face mask many times but I always gag at the price. Well after I finally got rid of a long lasting sinus infection and I had a yard full long grass and tall weeds to cleanup I decided to bite the bullet and buy this 3m powered respirator. If I had more use for it then just occasional jobs around the house it wouldn't bother me so much how much it costs. After it arrived I discovered the battery charger is sold separately. It's not even mentioned on the product page the you usually see below saying "OFTEN BOUGHT TOGETHER". I did my own search for the charger and I couldn't find it. I had to call Amazon. It took them a while to find the charger. Here's the charger for this respirator: 3M Battery Charger 521-01-43R01

Edit: I made an adapter so that it can be powered by a cellphone/tablet portable power bank/charger. See picture. It now lasts over 20 hours per charge and I can easily charge the portable power bank with the same wall charger as my phones. Besides the adapter, I 3D printed a holder with a belt clip for the power bank.It gets a bit heavy and you feel it on the back of your neck, but I use it often and don't mind so much. It would be really nice if we could get a hose that would allow the filter/blower to be on your belt also. I might try to mod a hose for that and maybe integrate it with the LiPo battery.

Did NOT come with battery charger. that is another $100.00 unless you happen to have a 3M charger for a BP-17 battery sitting around. heavy on the face. if you have a back that has done like me 25 yrs in the army, mostly airborne units, then this is going to be tough on the old neck. would be really nice if they would make a hose attachment so you could put the filter on your belt of in a backpack. sorry for the negativity. kind of pissed about the charger. on the good side. nice fresh clean air. no fogged up safety glasses. and the best thing, you can wear headphones to listen to whatever.

This an update review after using the product for a year. This full face mask is a life saver if you respiratory issues. Like some reviewers have said, it is way "overkill" for the casual wood worker. However if you are concerned about severe respiratory problems, this product is what you need if you want to get back in the shop. I do fine woodworking with exotic woods, many of which are respiratory irritants. With the fine sanding necessary for wood pens and small tools, I have no fear of sanding up a cloud of dust! You are safe, and used correctly you will not have breathing problems.I recommend this very highly. Having said that there are a few things I would like to see changed. 1. battery is very heavy and cumbersome. I have seen several work arounds with using a phone power supply. 2. the filter gets in the way of fine work like using a lathe for close work. Someone mentioned a hose adapter to put the filter on your waist. Good Idea. Also, you cannot wear glasses unless you have an optician to adapt a pair of glasses to fit the inside of the mask. Good luck finding one. That does not take away the 5 Stars, because it's a trade off for being safe from respiratory problems when using your shop!

My gear came with a charger, don’t order the charger separately.Excellent unit I am a big strong guy - maybe three hours I feel some neck fatigueBut no belt pack etc - fantastic!!!Used with PVC glue had near zero smellOnly a tiny bit when I was flooding he fan with vapor.Awesome tool as to longevity that I have not tested looks reliable even in tough environments.

My battery arrived completely used. The battery is over $500 of the cost of this product. The mask alone is under $200 separately. My battery pack on first use after a full night charge died after 10 minutes. Tried charging it an additional 24 hours and again it died after 10 minutes. Complete rip off.

Works well as a dust mask.
