MicroplaneMason Jar Lid Grater Set

I am thrilled that the zest is collected in the jar as I grate the lemon. The finest grater makes very small zest, almost powder like. The larger grater creates thin, short flakes, a little too large for baking, but fine for making simple syrup.Both graters do a good job of shaving only the flavorful zest, leaving the white pith on the citrus fruit.

Convenient space-saver! Store nutmeg or Parm chunks in the jar, turn the microplane disk upsidedown (for safety), cover with mason jar lid and lid band to keep airtight.To grate, remove the lid band and lid. Remove nutmeg or Parm from jar, place grater disk right side up, tighten lid band and grate! It's great!!

I used one of the lids for shredding ginger. It worked great and not messy. The ginger went right in the jar. I can think of a lot of things to use these for. I just bought another set as a gift. Highly recommend!!

I like that you can grate some garlic into a mason jar and make a quick dressing. Grate some cheese into a jar keeps the process meat and contained.

The handle broke on my original, more expensive Microplane and I found this less expensive option. The jar does away with the need for a handle and neatly catches the gratings. Wide mouth jars and canning lids sold separately (you'll need the outer ring of a canning lid to hold the Microplane in place).

I saw these and thought, wow, what a great idea! The reality is, it's got a small surface area, it has to go onto a mason jar, and I don't really have a lot of use for a tiny grater that grates into a jar. Oh, well!
