Can someone please explain the difference between 4/4 1/2 and 3/4 string size. Does the size of the violin make a difference? I have a 1/2

Hello, Yes the size does matter. The 4/4 size strings are only for full size violins. Most strings will be set for each individual size of the violin. Tonicas middle set fits 1/2 and 3/4 size violins which is what you should get. The 4/4 size would be way to big for your violin. is these strings better to use with classic or jazz?

It's often a bit of an experiment over time, to find the right match.On my daughter's older German fiddle, these strings are well-balanced and responsive, not to mention reasonably priced. She plays a wide range of musical styles, including baroque, classical, romantic, gypsy, old-time country, bluegrass, pop standards, etc. On her fiddle, the Tonica strings are suitable across the spectrum.

Does every string have a ball end?

The G, D, A have a ball end. The E has a choice of ball or loop.

Stands upto its name.

After using Pirastro Tonica found substantial difference in the tone of my violin.. irresistible to play.The only problem is it takes time to settle and one has to address by fine tuning.
