Great Paint!
I found the Krylon Candy Grape Shimmer Metallic paint results in a great finished product. I will echo what some others have mentioned in these reviews; preparation is everything. All metallic shimmer paints are not meant for opaque cover, they require a base coat. You can have a base coat of the same color you are using (in this case purple) or a flat white or light gray primer coat (which will require a few extra coats of metallic paint).I find the nozzle on this paint (as well as competitors) hard to hold down when covering a large area. Using good spray technique of depressing at the start of stroke and releasing at the end of stroke will fatigue your finger. You will have a tendency to move your finger forward on the nozzle which will result in the bottom of your finger interfering with the spay and causing blobs of paint. Ideally you should not have any paint on your trigger finger! I suggest using a spray can trigger handle. Shake can periodically during use and occasionally wipe any paint from the nozzle. Spraying metallic paint is tricky with any brand. The nozzle on this product is not a directional nozzle, at 6-8" the spray is circular and narrow. I used the technique of spraying side to side followed by up and down followed by 45 degree spray pattern provided an even coat without tiger stripes. My project is a fly ball box (dog sport). I prepped the wood using gray spray-fill primer (automotive primer) with a final 600 grit wet sand prior to painting. I applied two coats a day apart, wet sanded with 600 grit and then applied the final coat. I had no issues with drips or gobs of paint. I was very satisfied with the results and so was my customer. The attached pictures were taken after the second coat but before the wet sand and final coat.

Almost an Automotive Sparkle Finish
As with any project, prep work is critical. Shake the can beyond what you think is reasonable, then continue shaking it for another minute. The sparkle effect is essentially a glitter mixed in with the paint. When spraying, you'll see flecks of the glitter floating through the air -- be careful of any nearby projects, as they'll also catch some of the silver glitter. For the guitar project included as my image, I first primed the body in black so that the blue shimmer paint could stand on its own without getting absorbed by or reflecting the wood underneath. The first coats of color will look disappointing because it seems like the material just absorbs the paint and glitter. Subsequent coats as you build it up start looking better. The pictured guitar body represents one whole can plus part of a second. I will be emptying this second can to hit some of the uneven coverage on the guitar (a fault of my technique, not the product). It does dry a little rough to the touch, so some finish sanding may be required before applying any top coat. As a test run, I painted a piece of scrap with the shimmer, then overlaid it with gloss polyurethane. I saw no chemical incompatibility symptoms (cracks, orange peel, tackiness, etc.) between the paint and the poly.

Good Paint, Use it Sparingly
The media could not be loaded. Ok, so this paint looks great when you finally figure it out. Took me quite a few attempts to get it correct though. I found that you only really want to do a max of 2 VERY LIGHT coats to get the desired effect. My one issue with the paint is that the spray head was not the greatest. It is a bit tricky to get a smooth and consistent spray with it.My process was:1. Wet sand the painting Surface2. Black primer (x2) - About 10 minutes between coats.3. Wet sand the primed surface - read the can for the timing here (can't fully remember).4. Metallic Silver Paint (x2) - About 10 minutes between coats.5. Candy Grape Shimmer (2 very light coats. Move your hand quickly!) - About 3 minutes between coats.6. Paint marker for words - Waited 48 hours after the last spray coat.7. Clearcoat - (x3) 10 minutes between coats. Please keep in mind that if you use too much of the shimmer paint or spray it too thick, it will turn out very dark with basically no shimmer or color to it. Your goal is to spray enough to see the color, but light enough that your metallic coat is not completely covered up by the Shimmer paint. I would highly recommend pairing this paint with Rust-Oleum Metallic Silver paint as a base coat. These hair clippers were a gift to my dad who has been a barber for over 30 years. Though it would be cool to customize them with his favorite color. The clippers are Madeshow m10 clippers from Aliexpress and I think they turned out well using this paint.

Why Oh Why Is this Discontinued When I Love it?!
I Finally found the perfect green for my steel palm trees after trying a dark green matte color And I need two more cans but they are nowhere to be found except one site where I had to pay $89 for two cans out of desperation. I absolutely love this color because it pops and it went on just fine. I don't understand the bad reviews about the metallic green. Every can of spray paint has residual spray in the air. This went on beautifully and I love the contrast against my privet trees. I think too many people leave bad reviews and they don't know how to use the product and the rest of us suffer the consequence by not being able to find them available anymore. This shimmer candy apple green was a great color. I highly recommend it if you can find it somewhere and you are spraying on steel like I was after I put a base primer on. You can see this color on the left-hand palm trees in the lighter green with a pretty shimmer in the sun.
