Very much improved
This is the second one I bought. The first one lasted a couple of years but it had a small screw to hold the batteries in. I lost it and couldn’t find a replacement. The new one has a battery holder that just pulls out. Also zip ties that are reusable. You can change the batteries without tools or removing it from the engine compartment

These work!
Peppermint oil, Snap Traps, Rodent poison. None worked. I had been monitoring with gaming cameras, so I knew how bad the problem was. I installed 2 of these devices next to my truck batteries. That night when a rat jumped up on the axle on the way to the top of my diesel, it abandoned the vehicle in the same 1-minute video as it appeared. The next night it didn't even jump up on the axle. Subsequent nights are recording NO RODENT activity. They don't like it here anymore. Also of note: One of the 2 units quit working at about 90 days. The seller sent a replacement very fast. I am veryhappy to have found something that is working this well. I will buy more of these if I ever see more rodent activity.

Lightweight and compact
I gave it three stars because i am not sure if it worked or not, because a cat started hanging out at my house and now I have no more rodents. I still keep it in my car though just in case.

This is my third unit - VERY happy!
Packrats are common here and they were eating the insulation on the back wall of my engine compartment. Had dealt with them eating wiring in another car years ago. That time I replaced the wiring for about $2,000 and they did it again two weeks later. I used mothballs, but in the summer heat you could smell them from 20 feet away from the car. So this time I bought one unit that wired to the car battery and it pushed the rodents to the other side of the engine. Received an offer at that time for a free additional unit and chose one run by 2 C batteries. Used rechargeable batteries and they would last about a month. The second unit eliminated the problem. That was almost two years ago. I also leave the hood propped open and sometimes put cat hair from brushing my cats under rocks on the ground around the car. The unit that uses 2 C batteries recently quit working. I think moisture got into it from rain with the hood propped up, and it was mounted rather high and near an exposed opening. There was a little rust forming around the battery terminals. When it died, I noticed droppings on that side of the engine again. So I ordered this unit and there have been no droppings since I installed it two weeks ago. This unit is a little more compact than the one that used C batteries. When I installed the first two, a friend helped and he used zip ties to secure and stabilize the units. Happy the zip ties now come with the units. This time I installed it myself, fast and easy.

They work and batteries really last
We have some in our 30-foot travel trailer that are always on and I keep one in our tow vehicle that I turn on when needed. I haven't installed under the hood as I'm concerned about heat. But when boondocking in rustic areas, we toss one under the tow vehicle. Have not had any rodent issues since we started using them, even in the desert, the forest, and more environments. The batteries seem to last a really long time, even in the units that are on all the time.

Don’t waste your time/money on this product.
This product is worthless. I’ve had rodents living in my car engine at night so I placed this device in a strategic spot and even added the peppermint oil pouches they supposedly hate…and neither of these deterrents bothered the vermin a bit. As you can see in the attached photos, they slept right next to the flashing strobes and pouches without a care in the world.

One of three failed in 11 months - they do repel rats under the hood.
This is the third one of these that I purchased. This month, this one just stopped working. I tested the batteries and found them to be fine. I replaced the batteries with new, and the device still does not work. I tested the new batteries. They are also fine. I ordered a replacement device for this one, removed the batteries from the non-functioning device, placed them in the new device, and the new device is fine. So, this device, purchased in June 2021 failed in May 2022. I did not understand there was a 1-year warranty. The vendor immediately sent me a free replacement. The first two that I bought are functioning normally. They do repel rats under the hood, combined with Irish Spring soap chips in cups. We place two devices and two cups with Irish Spring chips under the hood every night and remove in the morning. We place another one under a chair on the lanai. We also place Irish Spring soap chips inside the air conditioning cabin air filter in the outside car. The rats now leave us alone, and I have another one for free to place on the other side of the lanai. Thank you.
