Maglite LED 2-Cell D Flashlight, Black

I bought this to go with my emergency kit that I keep in my vehicle in 2020. Maglite flashlights are the best built flashlights I've come across and last forever. They simply don't break. I still have this item and it hasn't failed me yet. I do change the batteries out every year, which I probably don't need to do, because the cold weather where I live in the winter zaps the life out of batteries.

I see all of these other flashlights that boast 10,000 lumens, but is it really? I don't need a flashlight that is so bright that it can set a piece of paper on fire or burn the retinas of passerbys. This flashlight is bright enough for what I need it for. I could see several hundred feet in front of me on the brightest setting. Also it's durable. I accidentally dropped it off of my back deck, about 15 feet high, and the flashlight landed on the patio, made of concrete. I thought it would have shattered, but it only made a small scratch on the top! Not as heavy as they used to be back in the day. However, they are durable and get the job done. Don't waste your money on other ones advertising tens of thousands of lumenz. This is the real deal and a great value for the price

It doesn't get much better than these, this Maglite flashlight just feels right in the hand and is built like a rock. I have multiple units, in varying sizes and colors, in different rooms of the house in case of losing power. additionally, I have a "pocket" Maglite for use on my job (i work as a sound technician and often need to explore pitch black racks filled with wires.). These flashlights are bright, you have the ability to focus them, and they are not battery hogs (which give the impression that they simply always work, which they pretty much do)they aren't cheap, but things that are built like this generally aren't at the bottom of the price scale. Essentially, it feels like the Rolex of flashlights - a solid, timeless design that has been proven with time. There are better, even more specialized units, ones that have more features, etc. This is the real deal -- when you handle it, you know it will last for decades and provide the same service as day one 25 years on.

Maglite LED 2-Cell D Flashlight, BlackI have several smaller LED flashlights but I was looking for a D-cell light with a long runtime for around the house and yard, mainly for use during an extended power failure.AMZ had this 2 D-Cell Maglight on sale so I got one for the house and one for the car. This turned out to be a really good impulse buy.Even at just 2 D-cells it's not an EDC light. It has a high and low brightness setting accessed by turning the light on-off-on to switch from one level to the other. It also has a flood/spot capability by twisting the head.Flashophiles won't care for the beam much. It has a variable spot and flood function that doesn't give a smooth pattern as with high-end LED flashlights. At one point you'll see a black spot that is the void or shadow of the LED itself. Turn the head and it goes away. That said, the beam is eminently serviceable and superior to the old Everyready Captain lights and PR2 bulbs, with more 'rings' than a California Redwood.It's a rugged basic light with long runtime (rated 16hrs on High, 127 on Low) and good range for both distance (rated 464m/507yds) and nearby. The head can get a little warm, unlike small super high output LED lights that get hot and ramp down brightness after a few minutes.As it uses D-cells, batteries last a long time and replacements can be had cheaply, anywhere. I only use Everyready Alkaline Energizers, as I've had very bad luck with Duracell batteries leaking. It might help to set a reminder on your phone or computer to check the batteries if the light doesn't see regular use. Leaking batteries will destroy a flashlight.This is a very good all around LED light that should give many years of service with minimal attention.

Coming from a maglite 2D LED user for about 1 year, I must say this maglite that I ordered recently is indeed a better version.I bought my first maglite 2D LED about a year ago. That was already a great product. Thus, I left it in my dad's car. This new one is for home usage. I enjoyed it as the brightness was significantly better than the non-led buld kind of maglite. However, this latest Maglite 2D that I just receied is even better. Upon turning on, immediately I could tell that it is much brighter that my previuos one.This new LED Maglite also seem to emit less heat than my previous set. In my previous set, after say 15 mins of operation, I could felt the heat on the head of the light. But this new maglite has none. Or perhaps very little heat that i couldn't feel it. I have yet to try the battery life, but base on the logic that the new LED emit less heat, I think it should have improved battery life.One of the reason why I prefer Maglite is the fact that it has lifetime warrenty and it is a tough light that is water resistant.

I have owned and used Mag lights for years they are very reliable and put out great light. I love the way the beam on the flashlights are adjustable, you can zoom in or zoom out with ease. It lets you see whatever you want with bright light. Heavy enough to be a very good weapon in a pinch. This one We keep here at the house for emergency power outages, or to look around outside at night. They are great to have around for this purpose. I also purchased the hangers to attach it to the wall in the garage. Very easy to install and lets you place it in a handy spot so you can get to it when you need it. We have several around the house. They always work replace the battery once a year, more often if you use it a lot. It will work for years.
