I need some specifics. Are there two boots (one boot for each foot) or two pieces for one foot?

One for.each foot, but they could probably be used interchangeably depending on what part of the limb needs to be protected. The Velcro closes on a different side.on each of the cushions, making them 'sided' but if that won't cause an issue they can be used on either foot.

Do these heel protectors need to be replaced every two months?

Sorry, I don't know. My mother didn't like them because they are so thick - almost pillow-like. They were too heavy-duty for my mom's needs. I ended up buying similar that looks like it is made out of sheep's wool, although I'm sure it is acrylic. She also thought the velcro on the one you are asking about cut across the top of her ankle/foot and was uncomfortable. The velcro is very stiff but could possibly be replaced with a less-stiff product.

How have you washed and dried these?

I put them in a bag used for delicates and wash them as I would a normal load of wash...just b sure the velcro is attached...otherwise it may attach to other garments in the wash.

Will these hold your feet at a 90 degree angle?

Being elderly and with limited mobility, I haven't been able to adjust them enough to get a 90°angle. They are of a very soft material which wouldn't create that angle.
