Works really well
No you don't need a box. They're not going in anyway. Make the sticky line as long as you want. Stick the edge of one borad onto the edge of the next and make a long fat line. This is tens times faster than reloading a trap box. Oh yeah .....it ain't pretty.

Super sticky - good for catching, but be careful when placing
We had previously used the Victor glue boards for mice and crickets. However, due to a rotted crawl space cover, we got rats. The Victor boards were simply not sticky enough - we saw evidence that the rats broke free. We purchased this product, which is definitely much stickier. As a matter of fact, one got stuck to the bottom edge of the refrigerator, and we were not able to pull it loose! Be mindful of your pets when deciding where to place this product.Unfortunately, we did not catch any rats with this product - we finally cleared up the problem with snap traps - but I chalk it up to the fact that rats are rather clever, and recognized this as something dangerous due to their experience with the Victor glue boards.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
This is a horrible product. Of course when a mouse or small rat gets attached it fights and if it is successful in turning the top over the glue will stick to your cupboard, floors or wherever you placed it and you will not be able to get it off. It ruined the paint on two of my floors and I had the nightmare of a rat getting off (without its tail) leaving blood everywhere to die and decompose stinking for days where I could not find it. My son had the identical experience. God forbid a kitten or e puppy accidentally touches the trap ar they will loose their fur.. and maybe more. When I was trying to pick it up it to dispose it attached to my shirt- and would not unattached so I had to throw a shirt less than a month old away. One goo gone will not remove the glue. I wish I could get a refund as a huge waste of my money time and psychological stress.

Decent traps
I use these traps underneath my furniture to catch spiders and little bugs that creep up from the basement on occasion.I have also caught mice in them, but they stand about a 50-50 chance of getting away every time depending on how long they’ve been laying around.

Very effective for voles
We have an epidemic of extremely destructive voles this year. We had a box of glue boards from two years ago that we got for trapping rattlesnakes (not a success since dirt and dust rendered them ineffective quickly). So we thought we'd try them on the voles. We cut the boards in quarters and put a nail through the non glue edge to anchor them in the dirt by the vole trails. In less than two days we had over 100, in five days 175. We ordered another box which came today and the glue is even stickier (probably since it hasn't had time to dry out). This evening we trapped 41 in less than an hour and a half. Some of the quarter pieces had three voles each. We are very impressed at how well they work, HOWEVER, there are some limitations. Since we are using them outdoors, dirt, dust, grass, and weeds can ruin the sticky surface very quickly (we find that they are only effective for about a day). Also water will both ruin the backing paper and glue surface (our traps are all in small rock gardens). It is a job to police them regularly, and we find that they are most effective early in the morning and around sunset. The glue is also stickier the warmer it is and that helps too. We haven't had a problem with cats getting stuck to them even though they will steal live ones occasionally (this might be a problem if you used the whole board). The cost per vole is small but adds up when you have to use so many.

Only good for smaller things
These are SUPER sticky (I recommend installing with latex gloves). I went out on a limb in case I could catch squirrels with these. I did see tufts of fur, but they are too big to be *caught / trapped* in these. We hope they can keep mice from chewing thru the AC wires again.(Unfortunately I did catch a bird, which I felt terrible about, and doubt it survived based on all it lost and being very stuck to itself.)

They work well
These are labels for catching rats. I don't know how they work for rats, as I use them for mice. The glue traps labeled for mice are not sticky enough and the mice can get off. These work well. I tried to order these directly through the company instead of through Amazon, but that was not successful. The supplier called me with a question and when they were not able to get me right away, they cancelled my order. I'd definitely order them through Amazon.
