Delicious
I read an article about the best curry blocks to get and it said this one and another by the same company called Java mixed together would make the best curry, so that's exactly what I did and it came out AMAZING. For the record, each tasted different and had slightly different descriptions and ingredients : ) if you love Japanese curry, definitely try this one! Oh, I also used chicken stock rather than just water which I think helped enhance the flavor for sure.

Delicious
I've used other rouxs before, and made my own from scratch; this one beats them all out. It's an easy way to make a flavorful and hearty curry at home.

tastes pretty good
It tastes better than the Java and Golden House imo. You can tweak it easily to make it into a more authentic tasting curry.

Rather bland
Of the Japanese curry roux blocks I've tried, this is my least preferred. It's a bit bland, even the "medium hot." I've tried Java, SB House, and Vermont also. This curry bills itself as "smooth and creamy" and that is true; it's very smooth and the roux blocks melt swiftly and with no lumps. But it lacks in deep curry flavor. This can be fixed by adding a pinch or two of SB curry powder (Japanese style curry powder) and grating an apple into the curry stew mix. Some people mix two brands together to get their preferred level of spice and savoriness. I like Java the best but sometimes I tone it down with Vermont, so I'm likely to mix this curry to liven it up.If you don't like that much spice (this one HAS spice but it's muted in heat) you will love it. My recipe is always the same; I saute an onion, then add whatever meat I'm using (beef, pork or chicken) then water (or sometimes bouillon) and simmer 15 min, then adding in potato and carrot for another 20 min, then add the roux and cook for about 5-10.
